As part of this work, our Engagement Team engages a wide range of people in the Trust’s vision for Gloucestershire, and our Marketing and Communications are integral to this.
We are looking for a Marketing & Communications Manager to develop and manage the marketing and communications function and team at Barnwood Trust. This includes Barnwood Trust’s websites, social media channels and print media, as well as responsibility for marketing and logistics planning for public-facing workshops and events.
Expertise in communications, including delivering high standards of accessibility, implementing organisation-wide communications and marketing strategies, and line management experience are welcomed for this role.

Summary of key duties:

About Hope for the Young
Hope for the Young is on a mission to remove the obstacles to young refugees and asylum-seeker’s education and well-being through a bespoke package of one-to-one mentoring, advocacy, and financial support.
Founded in 2008, Hope for the Young has grown from a small grant-making charity led by its Trustees to an organisation that, last year, worked closely alongside 135 young people, with 11 staff members, and 150 dedicated volunteer mentors.
Our Mentoring Programme operates London-wide and matches young refugees and asylum-seekers aged 16-25 with trained volunteer mentors who provide tailored one-to-one support and advice according to their needs.
Our Grants and Advocacy Programme promotes equal access to education for young refugees and asylum-seekers across the UK whose immigration status makes them ineligible for student finance, and those who are facing extreme financial hardship. As we embark on our next 3-year strategy, we are seeking an exceptional and proactive leader who can oversee all aspects of our Fundraising and Communications at Hope for the Young, bring fresh ideas, and drive the organisation forward.
About the Role
As our Fundraising and Communications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission and expanding our impact so that more young refugees can access the education and one-to-one support they need to rebuild their lives in the UK. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic fundraising campaigns, cultivating relationships with donors and supporters, writing funding applications, and effectively communicating our message to a range of audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute innovative fundraising strategies to generate substantial income towards Hope for the Young’s programmes.
- Cultivate relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations to build diverse and sustainable income streams.
- Draft high-quality funding applications to trusts, foundations and statutory sources, working with external consultants as required.
- Plan and oversee fundraising events, campaigns, and appeals, ensuring maximum engagement and participation.
- Provide excellent donor stewardship through high-quality updates and monitoring reports, face-to-face meetings, and other key communications.
- Create compelling content for our website, impact reports, newsletters, videos, and social media to enhance brand awareness and drive donor engagement.

- Collaborate with our team and young people to develop impactful storytelling initiatives that highlight the experiences and achievements of young refugees.

About you
- Proven experience in a similar role with a track record of generating substantial income from new and existing donors.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for storytelling and crafting compelling narratives.
- Extensive trust fundraising experience including researching, drafting, and submitting funding applications and overseeing multiple reporting deadlines.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
As Research Communications Lead, you will use your knowledge of the medical research field and science communication experience and expertise to create a suite of research impact communications and stories.
In addition, you will build the base for the charity to confidently talk and communicate the difference that our funded research makes to the lives of people affected by sight loss. These stories should substantiate our position as leaders in funding ground-breaking and world-class research and be used in any instance where we need to demonstrate our research impact, from fundraising materials to our brand marketing.
Working with teams across the organisation, you will act as an advisor, keeping teams up to date on the cutting-edge research we’re funding and what it could mean for people affected by sight loss conditions as well as building relationships with the research community and our partners.

· Support the Head of Communications and External Affairs and Research Grants team, to develop and deliver a Communications Strategy that amplifies our reach and demonstrates our impact

Content creation
· Produce high quality content, including case studies, e-newsletters, web and other copy focused on the charity's funded research. This could include writing plain language summaries of the research we fund, describing recently published research and working with researchers to create video content to help our audience understand more about their work and to demonstrate the impact of our funding.
· Where appropriate respond to media stories that resonate with the charities vision, mission and values specifically relating to research
· Promote the impact of our funding on the career progression of academics, clinicians, and clinician scientists working in eye health
Cross-team and collaborative working
· Build a strong and collaborative relationship with the research team to support cross functional working including identifying stories that demonstrate the impact of our funding
· Build relationships with funded researchers and future funded researchers to engage them in communicating our impact
· Build relationships with the scientific communications community specifically trade and scientific press to inform them of our impact
· Promote grant funding opportunities to the scientific community encouraging quality applications from researchers across multiple disciplines

Representing the charity

· A scientific or biomedical degree or equivalent in a science-based subject
· Demonstrable experience or passion for scientific research

The Role
As Marketing & Communications Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy for SafeLives. You will work closely with the Head of Communications and Marketing, who will set the overall direction for our work to build brand credibility, communicate our Whole Picture strategy and market our products and services. You will also line manage the Communications Officer.

We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and passionate Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join us at
an exciting stage in our history at SiMBA, as we embark on embedding and delivering upon a

Our CEO will lead our team in meeting our strategic goals, work in collaboration with our Board of
Trustees to develop our strategic direction, and ensure that we are operationally effective whilst
raising the profile of SiMBA within the bereavement care sector.
Our CEO will focus on building strategic partnerships with other organisations with aligned goals and
values, cementing SiMBA’s niche amongst the range of charities who support bereaved families
through the loss of their baby, and will empower our fundraising team to raise the funds necessary
to achieve our goals.
Having a strong grasp of the challenges facing the Charity and bringing creativity, a practical and
commercial approach to decision making, as well as being a ‘people person’ is essential to help SiMBA
support as many bereaved families as possible in Scotland to grieve, honour and remember their

We are looking for a positive people-person with exceptional fundraising, communications and engagement experience and abilities and the ambition to help take ANT to our next level of impact, as we prepare for exponential growth over the next year.

Main responsibilities
● Lead from the front to drive our relationship-based fundraising operations and strategy including regular giving, philanthropy and corporate partnerships

● Work with other team members to plan for excellent Landscape Recovery stakeholder engagement, communications and fundraising
