We are seeking to appoint a Gift Aid and Giving Support Officer to assist the Giving Adviser in enabling parishes to maximise their giving potential through the implementation of modern methods of giving, effective claiming of Gift Aid, training, and as the first-line support. The post holder will have responsibility for administrating the Gift Aid Lite scheme.
Gift Aid Lite, the diocesan Gift Aid scheme, supports over 190 churches (more than 50% of the churches in the diocese) by providing them with a donations management service using a third-party software solution incorporating online claiming, integration of contactless payment facilities, a regular giving scheme and online donations applications. The diocese acts as an agent between parishes and the HMRC, thus facilitating claims.
The primary requirement of the role will be the applicant’s secure knowledge of Gift Aid claim procedures and charity tax legislation, gained through work or as a volunteer in charitable organisations. A sound knowledge of data protection legislation and competent skills in IT is also an essential requirement.
The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, able to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and to engage parish representative in learning and becoming knowledgeable in essential legislation around Gift Aid and charity tax.
The Diocese of Manchester is the Church of England in Bolton, Bury, Leigh, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, and parts of Rossendale, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford.
Although experience of working within the Church of England is not required, the post holder should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Church.
The role is normally based at Church House, 90 Deansgate, Manchester M3 2GH.
