We are looking for a new Community Engagement Coordinator to join the Public Affairs team, who are responsible for engaging with external stakeholders and leading on activities as part of the University's Communications Strategy. With a new GM Civic University Agreement in place and the launch of our ambitious 2030 Sustainability Strategy, this is a great time to join the University and support our work with local communities.


The Public Affairs team are looking for an exceptional communicator, who is approachable and skilled at fostering positive relationships. You will support engagement and communications with our neighbours and partners including local residents, community/voluntary groups and networks. A key point of contact for local communities, you will also respond to enquiries and create bespoke communications for a range of target audiences.


This role also provides a fantastic opportunity to develop and maintain close working relationships with staff across the University. You will support the initiation of community engagement on and off campus and facilitate the use of University resources as appropriate. As well as supporting best practice across the University, you will be responsible for leading on specific activities to deliver against University and local priorities including sustainability and wellbeing.


This role includes some weekend and evening working. We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible and remote working and are open to conversations about this throughout the application process.



You are an enthusiastic, adaptable, motivated, and organised individual with proven ability and skill to create effective communications, handle different levels of enquiries and build strong relationships.


With an excellent knowledge of community engagement practices and local priorities, you will demonstrate the skill set to plan, deliver, and evaluate projects.


Your work will be underpinned by your strong administration skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
