A fast-growing and well-respected Vegan charity is seeking a skilled Finance Manager for a full-time permanent role based in Birmingham.
This represents an exciting time to join the charity as they seek to expand both in the UK and internationally.
The finances are currently managed by an external firm, but the need has now arisen to create a stable and reliable internal finance function.
The organisation currently has core staff of around 50 and is funded primarily by its Vegan licensing agreements, in addition to a small amount of membership income, charitable donations and legacies.
The organisation is seeking an experienced Finance Manager with empathy to Vegan causes & issues, who has experience in a broad, all-round finance role. It is highly desirable that applicants have experience in the charity sector, with knowledge of Charites SORP and charity funding. A qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is also strongly desirable.
The role will be highly varied, and will include:
-Production of management accounts
-Budgeting and forecasting
-Production of year-end accounts
-VAT and Gift Aid processing
-Reporting and presenting financial information to the board
-Managing a small team of 2 Finance Officers
-Researching and implementing a new finance system (currently the system is Quickbooks)
-Management of the new trading subsidiary and its relationship to the charity
-Assisting the Finance Officers with reconciliations and financial transactions
Requirements for the role:
-Fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA is preferred. Fully qualified AAT candidates and part-qualified accountants will be considered
-Experience completing charity and/or company management accounts
-Experience completing charity and/or company year-end accounts
-Staff management experience
-Knowledge of charity accounting standards around Charities SORP, Gift Aid, VAT and restricted/unrestricted income will be a strong advantage
-An interest in Vegan issues and causes. Applicants do not need to be Vegan, however must be happy not to bring any animal products or food into the office
-Experience in financial processing, including ledgers
-Experience in an SME sized organisation, or an organisation which has gone through a period of growth will also be a big advantage
