A fantastic small UK arts charity is seeking a new Head of Finance & Operations on a full-time, permanent basis.
The role manages one member of staff and reports into the Director of Finance & Business. It is a wide ranging post covering finance, operations and compliance and would best suit someone with experience in a similarly broad role in a small charity.
Although the office is in central London, the organisation are happy to offer a significant remote working option, and applications from candidates outside London are welcome.
The role would best suit a fully-qualified accountant with ambition and drive to improve. The organisation has secured significant funding and is in good financial health, and the role represents a change to join an organisation that has a tangible impact on society through its well-regarded programmes.
The role will involve:
-Work closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure that our financial systems and processes are agile, providing support and guidance to colleagues in using them
-Oversee the production and implementation of organisational budgets and 3-year forecasts
-Create financial models to assist the organisation in managing financial sustainability as its operating model evolves. This will also include frequent management of going concern forecasting
-Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports are provided to managers
-Oversee financial administration and bookkeeping, ensuring efficiency and high standards
-Maintain and develop effective financial policies and procedures
-Oversee the payroll system including pensions
-Lead the development of costing programmes and models for sales and commissioning of activity
-Lead the statutory accounts process acting as the main point of contact with the external auditors
-Provide financial information for funding bids, tenders and pitches
-Work with colleagues to ensure that income generation processes are effectively integrated with finance systems (e.g., Gift Aid declarations)
-Line manage and support the growth and development of the Finance Officer
-Monitor performance and ensure financial KPI’s and targets are met or exceeded
-Manage consultants and other third-party contractors as required
-Ensure effective IT systems are in place, including management of external support provider, oversee purchasing of equipment, security and disaster recovery arrangements
-Ensure effective platforms and systems are in place for commercial sales
-Oversee the management of agreeing and maintaining key contracts, suppliers and procurement processes including the landlord relationship
-Lead on legal, regulatory and compliance issues for the organisation, sourcing expert external advice as needed
-Oversee insurance requirements across the organisation
-Ensure organisation is compliant with GDPR legislation
-Act as Health and Safety lead, managing expert advice as needed
Candidate requirements:
-Qualified finance professional: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA
-Broad-based experience of financial management including operations, planning, financial accounting, treasury and taxation
-Experience of charity accounting including preparing statements for audit
-Have a strong blend of technical and managerial skills
-Demonstrable experience of working at a strategic level and being responsive to change
-Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines, a varied, and sometimes conflicting, workload, in a fast-paced environment
Salary: £42,000-£45,000 per annum
