A prominent membership body for health professionals is seeking a fully-qualified accountant for a Lead Finance Business Partner role, on a full-time permanent basis.
This role would be ideal for an ACA qualified accountant or auditor looking for their first role out of practice. Qualified candidates with relevant charity sector experience will also be considered.
The organisation has around 150 staff, with approximately 20,000 members and is a key voice in championing the industry in which it specialises. Part membership body/charity and part trade union, the organisation offers a range of membership services including publications, events, training & qualifications, research and advice - plus it is active in lobbying for healthcare policy improvements and encouraging excellence. The organisation is at the start of its 2 year corporate strategy, and as the UK comes out of the Covid-19 pandemic, the profile and importance of the charity is likely to become even more critical – so this represents a fantastic time to join the organisation.
This role is the senior of two Finance Business Partners in the finance team and the work will be ‘beyond reporting’ and weighted towards genuine business partnering to the whole organisation, involvement in commercial projects, reforecasting, budgeting, and being the ‘eyes and ears’ to the Finance Director and Head of Finance. They are seeking a talented, mature and entrepreneurial character for this role.
The organisation is a highly flexible employer.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
-Lead business partnering across the organisation, working collaboratively with staff in different directorates to understand requirements and present advice, solutions and recommendations to improve processes and performance
-Lead on budgeting, forecasting and business modelling - driving internal compliance, consistency and efficiency in process
-Act as trainer and coach to improve the commercial understanding across the organisation, leading workshops and providing the necessary tools and theoretical understanding
-Build a detailed understanding of the various functions of the organisation, both tailoring your approach to meet their needs and making connections between the directorates to inform the leadership team and way we work
-Support Directorates, departments and project owners to set and manage their budgets to maximise strategic impact and minimise undisclosed risk
-Conduct a corporate assessment plan for the modernisation of business systems and processes including procurement and contracts management
-Oversee the production of monthly management accounts and the provision of KPIs and management information that tracks performance and influences decision making
-Scope and implement a new financial system
-Support Head of Finance with the annual audit
-Fully-qualified ACA Accountant
-Management consultancy or finance business partnering background, with experience in the production of management information
-Experience of working with staff at all levels of an organisation; both financial and non-financial, to understand the end user reporting requirements
-Experience of having led teams through significant organisational change, building trusted relationships to gain support for new initiatives
-Experience of implementing innovative practice around business process and systems
-Strong financial and budgetary management skills
-Sound commercial judgement
-Outstanding project management and communication skills
-Experience using Sage or equivalent accounting package
-Advanced use of Excel and ability to use other Microsoft programmes
