Hours/Contract: 35 hours per week

Contract Type: 14-month Maternity Cover contract

Closing date: 9th June 2022

Interview date: Week commencing 13th June 2022, second round 20th June 2022

What we are looking for:

  • This is a fantastic opportunity to join Marie Curie for a 14-month Maternity cover contract at a pivotal time for the charity. If you are passionate about mass participation fundraising, providing exceptional supporter care and providing inspiring leadership than this could be the role for you! This is a varied role managing a range of teams responsible for delivering income and supporter care. The role manages two main teams, the Mass Participation team and the Supporter Relations team.

  • The Mass Participation team manages owned events and products including Challenge events, virtual events and collections as well as the directorates key campaigns including the flagship, multi-million-pound Great Daffodil Appeal. It is a crucial part of the Fundraising department and works incredibly closely with the Regional Fundraising teams as well as the Communications department

  • The Supporter Relations team provides the highest standard of service to our supporters and internal stakeholders, maintaining a thorough knowledge of our processes, products, and services

  • You will be a strategic thinker who works across the organisation and as part of a fundraising leadership team and can provide inspiring leadership. You'll lead the Mass Pax team on the long-term planning and reviewing of the product portfolio. And with the Supporter Relations Team you will be leading them to become leaders in our sector. You will be able to inspire yet challenge your teams to deliver growth and continue the building back following the impact of the pandemic.

  • Both teams are full of exceptional people who are experts in their field and make it a joy to lead, your purpose is to guide and lead them, we are not looking for an expert in every area of the role but for someone who can develop others expertise. We are supported by a large team of fundraisers across the directorate who are all working together to achieve the same aims, so you really are part of one team and one target.

  • The job is really varied, one day you might be working with the Head of Devolved Nations on fundraising opportunities in Scotland and the next you will be discussing the storyboard for our latest advert for the Great Daffodil Appeal.

  • Individual as well as team development is really important and we are proud of the number of people across the team who have developed and been promoted into more senior roles, this will be something you will support and encourage in your leadership role as well as be able to take advantage of through the wide variety of Learning and Development opportunities available to all staff.

  • This role can be done from a number of locations, you could be based at home, or in our London or Edinburgh offices (we also have other offices around the UK). The role will require travel to our London and Edinburgh offices on a regular basis (probably monthly) for team meetings and relationship building. The Supporter Relations team is office based and the Mass Participation team is remote - so you will be managing a diverse group of people.

  • Hours can be flexible, and we are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements with candidates to ensure that we get the best set up for both you and the organisation.

  • Marie Curie is a large organisation; the fundraising department raises nearly £100m gross income annually and we have just celebrated a fantastic 21/22 financial year where we overachieved on gross and net income. This puts us in a great position for the future and means we can really develop our organisation goals in the coming years.

  • We are one of the top ten charity brands in the UK and so much of that is down to our people. Our people are at the heart of everything, and we are committed to E,D,I. We have a wide range of active networks you can be part of and there are also a range of wellbeing support tools and benefits available.

What's in it for you:

  • Continued access to NHS Pension Scheme (subject to eligibility)
  • Marie Curie Group Personal Pension Scheme
  • Season ticket loan
  • Loan schemes for bikes; computers and satellite navigation systems
  • Continuous development
  • Industry leading training programmes
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Flexible Working
