Title Senior Payroll Advisor
Contract Type 2 year fixed term contract
Based Home based with travel to London as required

The role holder will support, advise and work closely with the payroll team and will be responsible for delivering on a number of operational workstreams to enhance and improve current practice and establish robust governance and control. They will also work in collaboration with various project teams to standardise our business rules and help to ensure that these are enacted consistently and correctly in payroll. This role will play an important part in addressing some of our current strategic initiatives and ultimately laying the foundation for the implementation of a new payroll system (Oracle Payroll) including the development of a more service orientated department.
This role will be the 'critical friend' of the People Team, bridging the gap between operational reality, the needs of stakeholders and the internal reporting requirements. This will be achieved by supporting a strong payroll function that outlines standards and measures performance to drive an ongoing continuous improvement culture.
What we are looking for:
A motivated and organised individual who can successfully support the payroll management with implementing various aspects of the payroll process including the creation of clear guidelines and procedural documentation.
Provide advisory support and guidance to line organisations, ensuring that payroll systems and services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner.
Assist with the mapping of business rules and the identification of the complete payroll feed activities, creating a full picture of all critical inputs and outputs.
Analyse the core payroll processes and procedures and identify areas for improvement in terms of driving even greater consistency and alignment across the charity.
Support the ongoing project work on the working time directive, the audit activities, the improvement initiatives and other related projects.
Inform the approach to designing our target operating model for the payroll function.
Deliver on continuous improvement activities within the function including 'lean' process and service quality
Work in line with the key performance indicators and service level agreements for payroll activities.
Demonstrate a solid understanding of the payroll activities using skills and knowledge to proactively highlight issues and propose solutions for minimising errors and rework.
Work with the People Transformation Team to support the implementation of the new Oracle Payroll system.
