Project Coordinator for School Awards (3-4 days per week)
We are a small, lively and expanding charity established in 2009, promoting the development of young people through challenging activities that they design, plan and undertake themselves. We invite students in partner state schools (usually in disadvantaged areas of London) to choose their own challenge, something they want to do but which is well outside their own ‘comfort zone’, and to be responsible for every stage of it: we then provide expenses funding up to £500 for each application, individual or group. Our award winners have climbed the highest UK peaks, cycled to Paris, started a football club for younger children, performed a pantomime at a children’s hospice, among many other imaginative and ambitious projects. See our home page for successful applications.
Who we are looking for?
We are looking for an energetic, reliable and interested candidate to work with partner state schools and Year 12 students to broaden our reach, inspiring high-quality applications for funding. We are at an exciting stage of growth, so there is great scope to shape our strategic direction, including cultivating our alumni network of previous award winners and managing our social media. We are looking for a passionate problem-solver keen to make a big impact on a small charity, and to work with and support young people often with a poverty of experience and opportunity.
The post is part-time, for 3 to 4 days per week, on a self-employed basis, based in Southwark with frequent travel to schools across London. The salary is up to £35,000 pa pro rata (paid as a daily rate ranging from £110 to £140 a day) depending on experience. Flexible working considered.
