Job Description

Based in the UK and Malawi, the driving force behind the Love Support Unite Africa Volunteer Foundation is to make sustainable, positive change at grassroots level, which can then be replicated and expanded to bring about major developments on a large scale. Powered by the passion and skill of our volunteers, through our various outreach projects we aim to give some of Malawi’s poorest people the helping hand they need to raise themselves out of poverty whilst promoting sustainable, innovative practices such as permaculture and renewable energy.

The Love Support Unite Foundation is seeking an enthusiastic and efficient fundraiser and marketing officer. You will be joining a forward-thinking, vibrant team at an exciting point in our development and growth. We have office space at Liverpool Street but you will have the opportunity to be based from home. We are also very interested in applicants from Essex due to us having a permanent presence there.

The selected individual will help research and develop fundraising opportunities in participation events, project manage specific events, co-ordinate participating individuals’ fundraising and furthermore maintain databases specifically related to LSU’s past and future events. We are looking for a candidate with proven success and experience of fundraising campaigns in the charity and non for profit sector.

Communications to focus upon publicity and the management of our online communications and to update donors on our activities. This will include liaising with colleagues to identify and target specific audiences, developing and enhancing our online presence as well as updating and expanding our social media outlets and mailing lists. 

You role will include;

Promoting and organising proven fundraising events. 
Promoting campaigns to schools.
Working on social media campaigns and digital marketing.
Volunteer trip organisation to Malawi.
Promotion of monthly giving campaigns.
Assisting the directors of the charity with strategy and day to day running of the charity.
Creation and maintenance of a client database.

To succeed in the role you will need excellent interpersonal skills, as well as a passion and interest in the charity’s work. Both roles will require a strong eye for detail, high levels of organisation, the capacity to problem-solve and the ability to work well within a team.

Previous experience in fundraising is desirable and clear evidence of strong customer service skills is absolutely essential. We are particularly interested in candidates with a proven background in monthly giving campaigns and direct donation campaigns as well as general experience in fundraising. 

You will be required to provide a laptop and phone, with the team contributing towards costs of phone use for work purposes. The role will begin at 4 days per week. Selected working hours can be discussed and confirmed with the LSU team, but we are flexible in terms of specific working days.
