We are looking for a Fair to Nature Advisory and Project Development Officer. This advisory role will play a key contribution to help grow the RSPB’s Fair to Nature programme and improve habitats to protect and restore nature and wildlife on UK farms with one specific major business partner, and with a wide range of other farmers and businesses.
Fair to Nature Advisory and Project Development Officer (Fixed-Term)

What's the role about?
For the key strategic business partnership within the dairy sector the role will visit farmer-suppliers and provide in-person habitat advice, and speak with farmers remotely (via Teams / Zoom) to understand their farming operation and provide habitat advice.
You will use this insight and experience to help inform the marketing tools and advisory programme for broader supply chain (other farms) within the partnership.
For other Fair to Nature farmers, and businesses directly linked to them, you will prepare for and complete advisory visits and follow up with applicant Fair to Nature farmers and share the benefits of Fair to Nature certification. You will advise them on how to comply with the FtN Standard and help them complete their Farm Plan.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge of land management practices that deliver nature and wider environment benefits on farmland.
- Understanding of the ecology of main farmland taxa, particularly those of conservation concern.
- Understanding of agricultural systems and how conservation management may impact on farming practice.
- Able to communicate effectively with farmers and advise them on land management for nature.
- Ability to be self-motivated and work efficiently within a defined work plan. This necessitates the ability to plan and organise their own work.
- Competent IT user (e.g. MS packages, Outlook etc).
- An ability to produce clear written communications.
- Proven time management and organisational skills to meet project deadlines.
- Experience of working with farmers.
- Experience of giving land and / or habitat management advice.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
- Experience of working to a standard project management approach.
- Experience of collaborating with food businesses.
- Ability to do habitat assessments and species surveys.
- Understanding of dairy farming and how conservation management may impact on farming practice.
The successful candidate will be based at a convenient location for travel across England and Wales

As an ambassador for RSPB NI, you will develop excellent relationships across RSPB teams and with a range of significant funders and partners.
What's the role about?
You will line manage a Fundraising Officer and play a vital role in fostering team culture and developing fundraising expertise. You will make a significant contribution to developing projects and be responsible for compiling high-quality funding applications to a variety of sources to secure income for our fantastic portfolio of work including nature reserves, visitor facilities, people engagement and nature recovery projects. You will have experience of line management, working with and through others to achieve results, being part of project teams, extracting the best from individuals and achieving success through partnership working.
Working knowledge of due diligence and legal compliance in the charity sector will enable you to ensure contractual obligations are communicated to project executives and budget holders, ensuring the RSPB upholds its reputation as an NGO that can deliver. Essential Qualifications
- Educated to A level, (Highers level in Scotland) or equivalent experience.

Essential knowledge
- Thorough working knowledge and application of relevant Chartered Institute of Fundraising, Fundraising Regulator and Charities Act regulations and guidelines
- Understanding of fundraising and donor/supporter motivations and how to build cases for support
- Able to articulate understanding of GDPR and data protection relating to funder/supporter information.
- How to use a fundraising database such as Raisers Edge, Care or Salesforce
- Essential experience
- Proven experience in fundraising/ sales/project management and delivering to income targets
- Proven experience of relationship development in an outward facing role in the not for profit or private sector

Job Background
We are looking for a Head of Fundraising who can work with the service delivery team to link earned income into the Fundraising Strategy, secure both unrestricted and restricted income and through grants, trusts and foundations as well as with corporate partners and individual donors. You will work collaboratively with teams across the charity and won’t be phased by the inevitable challenges that this will bring, or the constantly changing environment that the charity will be operating in the next few years.
In this pivotal role UKHarvest is seeking a strategic Head of Fundraising to lead the charity’s efforts in generating vital financial support and building meaningful relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders. You will have a proven track record designing and implementing fundraising strategies that achieve revenue targets and have the charity’s ethos at the heart of everything you do.
Main Objectives
With responsibility for the Fundraising at UKHarvest, the post holder will:
- Research and manage a pipeline of trusts and foundation applications that offer restricted and unrestricted funding.
- Write applications, using information and expertise from colleagues as necessary.
- Identify new fundraising opportunities from a range of sources, including national and local government; individual supporters and commercial opportunities.
- Organise, plan and implement a fundraising strategy, yet be flexible enough to adapt to changing priorities and deliver against tight deadlines when required.
- Lead and manage the process of reporting to existing funders and Trustees.
- Nurturing relationships with existing supporters and partners.
- Align fundraising campaigns using your excellent communication skills to deliver broader organisational messaging and branding.
- Demonstrate excellent writing skills and attention to detail, capturing beneficiaries’ experiences and the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Embed a culture of fundraising and effective storytelling throughout the organisation.
- Organise and lead regular fundraising meetings with the CEO.
- Proactively improve the processes and optimise the use of the CRM system to record funding opportunities and track income against targets.
- Develop strong relationships with all departments and at all levels across the charity.
Required experience
The successful applicant will have at least 5 years fundraising experience as a Head of Fundraising, managing and leading a fundraising team. A strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities, set priorities and drive results, you will have experience in developing and sustaining funding streams using a variety of techniques to secure restricted and unrestricted funding, major gifts, grants, events, and corporate partnerships; combined with exceptional communication skills to engage and inspire donors, volunteers and stakeholders. You will be able to motivate and develop a high performing team, set targets, and promote a collaborative culture. You will care about social justice, environmental sustainability and food waste as these pillars underpin all UKHarvest activities. The role will be predominantly based in the UKHarvest Chichester Hub with regular visits to the Nourish Hub in London.
