Becoming a volunteer relationship counsellor with Marriage Care is a long term commitment that has many rewards for each volunteer and for those that they help. You will find support from like-minded people and have opportunities to increase your professional knowledge and skills in this role. Marriage Care provide ongoing CPD, supervision, insurance and regional/national support for our volunteer counsellors.
Marriage Care selects Qualified Relationship Counsellors who have completed at least 150 hours of relationship counselling and who hold a recognised qualification in relationship counselling. We also select Qualified Counsellors who have at least 100 hours supervised counselling practice and who hold a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling. This route, however, requires a training course which costs £1800, please do contact us however if you would be interested to know more.
We ask for a commitment of 2 hours counselling per week and the necessary CPD and supervision required for this. We would also expect our counsellors to take part in centre meetings which are held between 2-4 times a year depending on the centre.
