We are seeking an experienced public affairs professional to develop and implement Maternity Action’s public affairs strategy which is focused on UK, Scottish and Welsh Governments. This includes: working with contacts in UK, Scottish and Welsh Parliaments so that our research and policy analysis is communicated in a way which informs debate; build our contacts in those Parliaments; organise Parliamentary panel sessions, roundtables and meetings; prepare briefings and reports; support individual women to take part in Parliamentary events and other communications activities; communicate about Maternity Action’s work through face to face presentations, traditional and social media.
We are looking for someone with sound knowledge of the political system and policy making in the UK, including Parliamentary processes; experience in developing and delivering effective political advocacy strategies; experience in developing and maintaining political contacts; excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to support individual women to take an active role in Parliamentary events; and a commitment to feminist principles.
The role will be part of our small team based in Old Street, London. The post is for 14 hours a week. We are happy to consider flexible working arrangements during normal business hours, including home working. There will be regular meetings in London and occasional travel outside London.
