Maternity Action is the UK’s maternity rights charity dedicated to promoting, protecting and enhancing the rights of all pregnant women, new mothers and their families to employment, social security and health care.
We are seeking an experienced employment lawyer to deliver and supervise advice and training on maternity and parental rights at work, maternity pay and welfare benefits. The role will manage Maternity Action’s Maternity Rights Advice Lines, pro bono email advice service, online training and will help develop new regional advice services. This role will work closely with our employment casework team.
We are looking for a solicitor or barrister with thorough knowledge of employment and discrimination law. Knowledge of welfare benefits for low income families is desirable, though not essential, as training in welfare benefits will be provided to the right candidate We are looking for someone with experience of managing a specialist service in a related area of law, excellent written and spoken communication skills and a commitment to women’s rights.
The post is 21 hours per week. The post can be delivered from our office in Finsbury Park, London or home-based from any location in the UK. There is a core day (Thursday) and we are otherwise flexible about start/finish time and days worked, within normal business hours.
This is a three year post ending 31 July 2023.
