UK Community Foundations

UKCF is a membership charity working in partnership with Government, large funders, charities and businesses to promote philanthropy, and to design and deliver major grant programmes across the UK. These programmes are coordinated by UKCF and delivered by our member Community Foundations. We are the national membership body for the 47 Community Foundations in the UK, who help funders, companies and other donors give effectively to strengthen their local communities.  Most recently, through Covid 19 we have distributed £65m of funding on behalf of the National Emergencies Trust, which has raised our profile significantly. UKCF is passionate about supporting community activity through local grants, and our vision is that communities can help all those in need.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Membership and Learning Officer to join our team.  Our 47 members rely on us to provide a range of training, advice, peer to peer learning, and projects to improve their performance and capacity.   Your role will be diverse and a blend of project work and administration.  It will involve organising meetings, hosting webinars, managing specific areas of work and building relationships across the UK. 

Our members vary from very small with two or three staff to well established very well-resourced foundations.  The Membership and Learning Team looks after member retention and the delivery of the membership strategy.  They are the focal point for all CF’s, answering members’ enquiries, championing best practice and raising standards.  Working with other teams including communications, business development and programmes, the membership team has an oversight of all UKCF activity relating to our members. 

We provide a range of member benefits which are under review.  We are planning to run four special projects in 2022, a digital transformation programme, Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), raising our profile with parliament and building our lobbying capability, and providing a package of services for our smallest members to help their sustainability.  We also run a leadership programme and are expanding our training offer. We are integrating Sustainable Development Goals into our work.  Membership while not responsible for all these projects, will be key to member communication and participation.

The ability to listen, problem solve and engage others is critical.  You will need good organisational skills and attention to detail.
