About BEfriend
BEfriend is a registered charity operating in the London Borough of Ealing since 1994, and more recently, launching in the neighbouring borough of Hounslow. Our aim is to reduce chronic loneliness and isolation experienced by local people through one-to-one volunteer befriending and social events.
Role Purpose
To take responsibility for BEfriend’s trust and foundation applications and generate new funding opportunities.
Main Duties:
Trusts and foundations
● Lead on the trust and foundation funding applications which deliver BEfriend’s strategy.
● Work with the staff team to ensure that BEfriend’s work is accurately represented in funding applications.
● Research funding prospects and ensure a strong pipeline of applications at all times.
● Develop and maintain good working relationships with current and potential funders.
● Lead on reports to funders and work with colleagues to ensure reports are completed on time, meeting funder reporting requirements.
● Evaluate bids

● Work with the CEO to develop a fundraising strategy for the next 3 years and agree fundraising targets and key performance indicators

Community Development Officer – London (England South)
We are recruiting a Community Development Officer to engage key partners and stakeholders in the region tailoring support, training and education to create suicide safer communities.
In this role you will:
· Identify, develop and maintain effective partnerships with local communities, volunteers and key partners across the region to engage them in the prevention of young suicide.
· Proactively promote suicide prevention including raising the profile of PAPYRUS and engaging with those personally affected by young suicide.
· Equip a wide range of stakeholders to enable them to create sustainable suicide safer communities through the provision of tailored support, training and education.
· Deliver training and awareness raising products to a variety of groups including professionals, parents, young people, volunteers and other trainers.
· Contribute to the development and review of projects, and education and training products, in line with the Strategic Plans.
· Contribute to and promote campaigns, training and opportunities as outlined in the Regional and Strategic Plans.
· Represent the charity at events including conferences, panels, working groups and through media channels as required.
· Record, monitor and report on data to evaluate our projects and demonstrate impact.
To be successful in this role you will have:
· Previous experience working in a community setting, delivering information and training sessions, leading workshops or educational activities
· A proven track record of networking and building and managing effective relationships, tailoring the approach to meet the differing needs of the audience
· Experience as a qualified ASIST Trainer or willingness to gain qualification and experience
· Experience of using own initiative and creativity to develop a project, programme or area of work
· The ability to travel to different locations across London and the South of England to attend meetings, events and deliver training.
Salary: £29,269 per annum (NALC Scale SCP 18) progressing by increments to £32,076 per annum (NALC Scale SCP 23). As this is a London-based role, the post-holder will receive an additional Cost of Living Allowance which is £5,000 per annum.

Your challenge? To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate work experience placements with local organisations/employers. Day to day, you’ll offer support, careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation, interview techniques etc. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with partner organisations, local employers and Mental Health teams and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. Additionally, you will have responsibility for maintaining efficient admin systems to ensure referrals, assessments and reviews are completed in a timely manner.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the UK’s biggest-ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. For 10 years, it has been transforming the way the nation thinks, acts, and talks about the condition through volunteer-led Dementia Friends Sessions and tailored resources for organisations.
The programme supports individuals and organisations to understand more about dementia and inspires them to take meaningful action to bring help and hope to everyone affected by dementia. This varied role is all about engaging volunteers, organisations, and other internal and external stakeholders with this flagship programme. Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the UK’s biggest-ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. For 10 years, it has been transforming the way the nation thinks, acts, and talks about the condition through volunteer-led Dementia Friends Sessions and tailored resources for organisations.
The programme supports individuals and organisations to understand more about dementia and inspires them to take meaningful action to bring help and hope to everyone affected by dementia. The programme is about to embark on a development phase, so this is a great time to join the team and bring your expertise and experience.
This varied role is all about engaging volunteers, organisations, and other internal and external stakeholders with this flagship programme. The role will work across a specified region to recruit, engage, train and support Dementia Friends Ambassadors (DFAs) volunteers. It will support the development of new learning resources for programme routes and work with teams across Alzheimer’s Society to support them in using all programme routes to build relationships and deliver impact.
Most importantly, this role will allow you to make a difference for people affected by dementia by raising awareness of small steps that everyone can take to make the world a better place for them. You will be inspiring behaviour change at all levels!
The role will be primarily home-based, but you will need to be able to travel across your region. There may be some occasions when you need to travel outside of your region. The role may involve some evening and weekend work to enable ongoing support of volunteers, so flexibility is essential.

EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST ROLE (multiple openings)
Twining Enterprise supports people across North & West London with mental health problems to find and sustain work, using the internationally recognized Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach.
We are now looking to recruit a number of professional and self-motivated Employment Specialists to join our dynamic and high performing teams in Barnet or Haringey. You will provide an employment support service to help people suffering with a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) to gain and sustain paid employment.

JOB PURPOSE
To inspire people with severe and enduring mental health conditions to progress and to gain and sustain paid employment and contribute to a thriving team and organisation.
The Employment Specialist (ES) role will work across and within the local Barnet or Haringey secondary care network. You will work to assist referred patients (clients) to find competitive and sustained employment. Around 25% of referrals will be to assist clients to remain in work if struggling, or return to work, if off sick.
Employment Specialists will follow the 8 principles of IPS, adhere to the IPS Fidelity Scale and achieve monthly targets and KPIs with the required administration and compliance.
You will need to be comfortable supporting people who have experienced / are experiencing serious mental health challenges, as well as possibly other serious difficulties in their lives. Although you will receive full training and support, it’s important you are aware of the potential impact this may have on your own mental wellbeing.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Engage a caseload of clients with serious mental health problems and establish trusting, collaborative relationships to support them into employment in line with contract targets and IPS fidelity.
2. Assess clients’ employment support needs; implementing and adjusting employment plans as necessary to support each client’s desired outcomes along IPS requirements.
3. Develop and deliver a range of practical services to meet clients’ needs including career guidance, job searching, CV preparation, interview skills, individual coping techniques or work coaching.
4. Build a constant flow of referrals to ensure a dynamic caseload.
5. Conduct weekly employer engagement activity in line with IPS Fidelity.
6. Understand the complex issues a client may face, recognise holistic support needs and work in conjunction with clinical staff.
7. Facilitate access to expert financial advice on welfare benefits and ‘access to work’ resources.
8. Provide support and reasonable adjustments if required, to employed clients to support them to stay and progress in work.
9. Regularly attend clinical team meetings to provide advice and information on employment and IPS.
10. Collaborate with community partners to raise awareness of employment and mental health issues and promote access to the service.
11. Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service requirements, ensuring the IT database is up to date and paperwork compliant.
12. Update and maintain NHS database (RIO).
13. Receive regular supervision and training to meet individual, team and organization’s needs.
14. Contribute to the development of a service that is locally responsive and supports minority/disadvantaged communities.
15. Comply with and actively promote all Twining policies and procedures including Equality and Diversity, safeguarding and data protection.

Right now, one of our partners, Richmond Fellowship, is looking for an Employment Specialist to join their Surrey Employment service. We help individuals find paid employment or return to work after a period of ill health. We also assist employers and employees to successfully resolve mental health problems and other health issues in the workplace. But, it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Would you like to be a part of an exciting new opportunity in the IPSPC service? Your challenge? To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate, meaningful paid roles with local organisations/employers. Day to day, you’ll offer support to individuals who are suffering with mental ill health and other chronic health conditions, offering careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation and interview techniques. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with Primary care providers, clinical teams, partner organisations, local employers and other relevant agencies and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. Additionally, you will have responsibility for maintaining efficient admin systems to ensure referrals, assessments and reviews are completed in a timely manner.
As well as a good understanding of the IPS model of working, mental and physical health problems and the issues and barriers this can create for our clients, you’ll need excellent motivational, presentation and listening skills and a willingness to travel in the local area and to work outside of office hours as required. Reporting into the Director of Marketing and Communications, you will take the lead in running the reactive press office function as well as planning and delivering a regular calendar of national proactive media moments, securing positive national coverage in print, broadcast and digital channels. You will also be responsible for evaluating the results and measuring the impact of the media coverage you secure.
In this role you will be responsible for developing a wide range of high- quality media materials including press releases, opinion pieces, blogs and statements.
You will provide co-ordinated localised media and general communications support to our Regional Heads of Marketing and Communications. This includes taking a proactive approach to generating story ideas in local areas, coordinating joint press activities and attending press opportunities in England and Scotland.

REQUIRED SKILLS
We are looking for candidates with excellent creative writing skills and experience in creating content for a wide range of audiences, making complex articles interesting and accessible to all.
