Can you write compelling copy, own your work and get results? We're hiring a freelance Communications Officer for 8 hours a week, starting asap. We’re looking for a proactive professional to support our mission to transform loneliness into connection among isolated people and under-served groups in Tower Hamlets.

You’ll have the chance to shape, own and drive forward Globe Community Project’s communications strategy, taking a proactive approach to campaigns and initiatives, social media and supporter engagement, and meeting targets to inform, grow and reward our supporter base.

You’ll be joining the charity at a time of growth, and there’s scope for you to make a huge impact on our ability to reach and connect even more isolated people. As a loneliness charity, our communications are key.

You’ll either be in part-time work and looking for more hours, or a freelancer with space to take this on. You could work your hours across one or more days; we don’t mind as long as you can drive results, be flexible and responsive where needed. 

Campaigns and initiatives
Producing compelling and impactful communications.

• Writing copy.
• Creating and developing content and graphics.
• Publishing on, and assisting with the development of, the GCP website.

Social media
Full responsibility for the social media channels.

• Creating and scheduling posts and content
• Engaging with others and with relevant trends.
• Setting and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).

Supporter engagement
Keeping supporters and donors informed and involved.

• Crafting and designing compelling emails, with at least 1 email newsletter per month.
• Promoting opportunities for participation – including surveys, volunteering and
• fundraising campaigns.

Strategy

• Making key contributions to the development and delivery of our strategic communications plan, including setting targets and timeframes within your first month.

Community events

• Gathering stories and content from participants at our activities in East London.

Reporting into the Head of External Affairs, the Senior Internal Communications Officer will be responsible for managing and implementing our full range of internal communications activity. You will work closely with colleagues in the Brand & Marketing and External Affairs team (as well as senior colleagues across the wider organisation), to take briefings and gather key information, generating key updates for the wider staff base, which will be shared across a range of channels. You will support the Head of External Affairs to develop and rollout an internal communications strategy and plan, identifying opportunities to inform, update and engage staff. With a brand refresh being rolled out in 2023 and structural changes to the team (as well as a new corporate strategy), our people will continue to sit at the heart of our wider communications efforts.

You will play a pivotal part in delivering our new brand vision to our internal audiences and work in partnership with People and Culture colleagues to help them achieve their own internal engagement objectives. You will have great copywriting skills, a passion for threading our values and EDI commitments through communications and a desire to create content that engages, informs and inspires.

The logistics and communications officer role is to support the whole staff team, volunteers and the stakeholders of Let’s Grow Preston. We are looking for a flexible, competent and creative person to join our dynamic team. The role is predominantly administrative, but there will be days when the role will require you to collect food for distribution, load and unload the van with trolleys and plants for an event, or just to drop off at another community hub.

A full clean driving licence is essential to enable the post holder to drive the charity’s van.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To assist and communicate with the support of Let's Grow Preston's existing network of community groups across the PR postcode area and support regular network meetings.
2. To assist and communicate with the support of Let's Grow Preston's existing network of contacts within the charity, public and private sectors; including local schools.
3. To support the work of the staff to ensure that all communications are delivered in a professional and friendly style.
4. To ensure that all volunteers have access to and understand the volunteer handbook and that any amendments in policy are alerted to the volunteers and staff in a timely fashion.
5. To oversee the calendars of Let’s Grow Preston, to help to coordinate the volunteering sessions and the van to ensure that there are appropriate staff to cover volunteering sessions and that there are adequate resources such as the van, gazebos are available, drivers forms completed and filed etc.
6. To assist the Chief Executive and staff to establish robust methods of evaluating the work of Lets Grow Preston against project indicators.
7. To deliver and co-ordinate workshops, evaluation and feedback, reviewing activity and making recommendations for revised activity, or new opportunities.
8. To promote the work of Lets Grow Preston and support, coordinate and communicate on the delivery of key events in the organisations calendar e.g. Spring Fair, Christmas Fair etc.
9. To develop and implement robust health and safety procedures and working practices including keeping of relevant records.
10. To keep accurate records of equipment provided, activities undertaken, location of activities and number of participants.
11. To support the Chief Executive and Volunteer Co-ordinator in ways in which local businesses can be involved and linked with LGP to promote corporate involvement and support going forward.
12. To produce regular LGP newsletters and update LGP's website and social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram and X.
13. To help keep all of the LGP sites clean and tidy including the office spaces and other buildings.

At WithYou we are looking for a Media and Communications Lead to join our organisation. This is a full time, permanent position based from home. This role will join our Marketing and Communications directorate, an innovative team of people who are committed to raising the profile of WithYou and connecting with our stakeholders in new ways. 

Reporting into the Director of Marketing and Communications, you will take the lead in running the reactive press office function as well as planning and delivering a regular calendar of national proactive media moments, securing positive national coverage in print, broadcast and digital channels. You will also be responsible for evaluating the results and measuring the impact of the media coverage you secure.

In this role you will be responsible for developing a wide range of high- quality media materials including press releases, opinion pieces, blogs and statements.

You will provide co-ordinated localised media and general communications support to our Regional Heads of Marketing and Communications. This includes taking a proactive approach to generating story ideas in local areas, coordinating joint press activities and attending press opportunities in England and Scotland. 

You will also contribute to other content development such as collecting stories, producing film, photo and social media and website posts, working to grow WithYou’s reputation and influence, supporting our income generation activities.

This is a full time, permanent position based from home. The salary for this role is £37,000 - £42,000 per annum.

REQUIRED SKILLS

We are looking for candidates with excellent creative writing skills and experience in creating content for a wide range of audiences, making complex articles interesting and accessible to all. You will have an excellent news sense and the ability to generate a hook for a story, with proven ability in securing media coverage. Strong organisational skills and being able to plan ahead are key to this role, along with experience of working to tight deadlines.

About First Step Trust:

First Step Trust (FST) is a registered charity providing access to work experience and employment opportunities for people (referred to as workforce) with mental health challenges, learning disabilities, a history of offending and other socio-economic disadvantages, with a key aim to provide opportunities for people who are not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

The charity currently operates a garage and a catering business, both focused on providing real-life work experience for these learners. FST has over thirty years' experience as a provider of employability programmes and has successfully run the commercial aspects of the business, creating a solid balance sheet with healthy reserves.

In recent years, FST has been exploring new ways of helping people overcome barriers to learning including, low levels of literacy/numeracy and debilitating anxiety in formal situations e.g. exams or interviews.

Through FST's ground breaking work using Virtual Reality (VR) to upskill our workforce members and engage learners in secure mental health facilities, we have recognised the potential of assistive and emerging technologies as a real game-changer for the people we work with. The technology enables us to do things never before possible. We have, with the support of Halfords Autocentres and the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), developed an innovative programme which offers high quality training in a safe environment that does not require any written work.

This led us to identify the need for new ways of enabling and 'scaffolding' learning that will combat some of the wider psychosocial barriers including 'fear of learning', the impact of e.g. learning disabilities, Autism, negative peer pressure and reoffending behaviours. A recent Resolution Foundation report suggests that current "low rates of training among the least educated are troubling, given international evidence showing that there are higher returns to adult education for these individuals." Research suggests that AI/ machine learning could help us overcome these.

We have been supported by two Ufi VocTech Trust grants to deliver VR supported training to these communities of learners furthest away from learning and work. The route to market for our products is into the automotive industry directly, but is also being commissioned by NHS and criminal justice/mental health services as a way to introduce those in secure environments to potential future work opportunities.

These digital developments form part of the charity's strategy for embracing digital innovation to better serve our client base and grow the market we are able to serve beyond those in our local areas.

About the role: 

As the COO, you will support the CEO in executing their strategic plans and directives, while overseeing the efficacy of the organisation’s strategy and implementing changes needed for the growth and development of the organisation. Ultimately your purpose is to support the continued success and growth of the organisation through good management, communication and relationship-building, without compromising on our commitment to working with people who use our service as colleagues..

About you: 

You will be a senior manager who has energy and drive as well as sound judgement. Director of Impact & Development – The Solicitors’ Charity

We’re looking for a Director of Impact & Development to develop and implement income generation and communication strategies and to develop strategy and practice around impact measurement and client feedback collection. The Solicitor’s Charity is the independent charity that, since 1858, has been supporting solicitors and their dependants in times of need or crisis.

Salary: c£66,000 - c£70,500(rising to c£67,250 - c£71,750 after successful completion of 6-month probationary period). The point on these salary ranges at which you will be paid is currently dependent on your location.

Flexible working arrangements are possible, including homeworking with occasional attendance in person at meetings, largely in central London (6-8 per year). Most staff work from home, though we also have an office in southwest London.

The Director of Impact and Development role

 We have recently agreed our strategy for 2024-2026. Two key objectives for this period are to grow and diversify our funding streams and to increase awareness of the charity.  We are also keen to understand better the impact that our activities have on our clients so that we can ensure that we are doing well the things they need to support them and so that we have stories to tell to help with fundraising and communications. Finally, we are keen to engage members of the profession in spreading the word about our work, including through a volunteer ambassadors’ scheme.

As holder of this senior role you will lead in these areas, developing and implementing effective strategies ad processes. You will work initially with our existing communications agency and with fundraising consultants but by the end of the year will need to have formed a view and put in place plans that either continue with these arrangements or bring more work in house.

Success in the role will be shown by significantly more income coming from sources other than our investments and donations of unclaimed client balances by law firms; by more people knowing about, supporting, and approaching the charity for help; and by us understanding better what works to help our clients and using this knowledge to promote development of the charity.

We’re looking for someone with at least 10 years’ experience in leading change in organisations (as an employee and/or a consultant) and evaluating organisational impact through metrics, feedback and benchmarking. At least 10 years’ experience in leading a marketing, communications and/or a fundraising function with proven experience in leading the development and implementation of marketing, fundraising and communications strategies and implementation plans in a similarly sized and geared organisation. You will also have a track record in developing organisational design, targets, operating models and business modelling in the charities and not-for-profit sector.

Other key demonstrable skills and experience include:

· Strong interpersonal and partnership skills, able to influence and work with a range of stakeholders at all levels, within and outside of the organisation.

In this job, you will play a vital role in driving up awareness of the Mental Health Charter with businesses, organisations, and service providers across the borough of Barnet.

To begin with, you’ll use your organisational and project management skills to work with the steering group to create an action plan. With their support, you’ll use your operational communications experience to work with all partners to develop and create presentations and other promotional materials, such as flyers and posters. You will also take photos at engagement activities for partners to promote the project on their respective social media platforms.

Then, using your excellent interpersonal skills you will build on existing relationships with key stakeholders and create new ones. Travelling around the borough of Barnet you will proactively approach, encourage and support a diverse audience of businesses, organisations, and service providers to make pledges to the charter and later follow up on their progress.

On a day to day basis, you will record activities against key performance indicators, accurately record and analyse feedback using surveys and data management tools.

Additionally, you will organise and attend monthly Steering Group meetings following key project management principles to report on the overall progress of the project against targets.

We are the UK’s student mental health charity. We challenge the higher education sector, health sector, and government to work with students when making decisions that impact them, and make them accountable for prioritising student mental health. ROLE PURPOSE
The Programme Liaison Officer (full-time, fixed-term contract for 18 months, with possibility to extend) will join the expanding Sector Improvement Team. They will provide vital administration, communication and digital liaison and support required to successfully run and deliver the University Mental Health Charter Programme and Award, achieve the Sector Improvement Team’s key objectives, and contribute to the whole charity’s mission and goals.  This is an exciting opportunity to help the team scale the University Mental Health Charter, with the potential to impact 2.5 million staff and students across the UK.

This role will include responding to queries, liaising with assessors, universities and general enquiries. The post holder will be responsible for working with the team to develop and monitor our HUB and digital platforms, for developing regular newsletters and working with colleagues to liaise with the many stakeholders involved in the assessment and programme processes.

Key responsibilities 

Liaison support

• Provide effective liaison and administrative support to the Sector Improvement Programme(s), working closely with the Sector Improvement Lead and Programme Managers to ensure thesuccessful delivery of the programmes
• Support the planning and delivery of key Sector Improvement Programme activities such as the Winter Panel and the recruitment of the Award Assessors, CPD training and responding togeneral enquiries
• Act as the first point of contact for key stakeholders’ inquiries through the Charter Inbox and Student Minds’ Hub

Digital and resources support

• Utilise project management tools to manage work, deadlines and workflows alongside relevant colleagues to ensure timely and quality programme delivery
• Support the development of resources and documents for the charter, including newsletters, HUB announcements, Charter Handbook etc.
• Work closely with the Comms and Digital Team internally to develop and communicate clear timelines and resources needed throughout the year
• Support the annual onboarding of the Charter Programme, supporting the administrative tasks for the process, including some financial support. Lead on bringing together and distributing key documents such as welcome packs, Charter Framework documents etc.
• Support the coordinator (Programme and HUB) to onboard universities and Assessors to the HUB, and develop and grow the platform for members
• Update and oversee the Sector Improvement annual calendar of events and key activities/deliverables and share with the wider Student Minds team, identifying where dates may need to be moved
• Actively participate in the testing and embedding of new digital systems being led by the Digital
• Product Manager to increase efficiency and engagement for the Sector Improvement Programme and organisation as a whole for example collating product requirements

Financial support

• Work with the Programme Support Officer and finance colleagues to ensure correct processes and procedures are followed accurately and compliant with finance requirements
• Act as a secondary card holder for the team, making online purchases such as accommodation and travel bookings and following policies, procedures and guidance in the correct and responsible use of the Student Minds card

Data and process administration

• Administer data princesses for the University Mental Health Charter Programme and Award process, in line with Data Protection Guidelines
• Collate evaluation data from Sector Improvement events (online and in person)
• Create essential documents requested by the Sector Improvement Programme team, to support programme delivery and scalability
• Use our database(s) to manage relationships and communications with programme participants and key stakeholders, ensuring it is always up-to-date
• Support the Sector Improvement Team and Award Managers to enable efficient Award
• Assessment accreditation processes
• Maintain key working relationships with our network of Assessors and University Award Leads, addressing queries, scheduling and minuting award panels, sharing actions with the team

Working together

• Work closely with the Programme Support Officer to successfully deliver all aspects of the role, including managing the relationships with universities and logistical aspects (e.g. bookings, finances), ensuring tasks are picked between roles and when required
• Work closely with colleagues in the Student Space team and Training teams to embed cross- programme working within Student Minds.
• Attend various programme-related meetings, actively contributing ideas to continually develop our Programmes
• Stay updated on developments in Higher Education and gather insights from sector partners to feed into team decisions
• Look for opportunities to develop systems and processes to improve ways of working and participate in discussions on the Sector Improvement Team development and improvement

About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to work for Mind BLMK as part of the Fundraising & Engagement Team. Acting as the first point of contact for all Fundraising & Comms enquiries and in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communications Strategy, this is a busy role and will require excellent stewardship and donor care skills as well as meticulous organisation and innovative thinking. As an Ambassador for Mind BLMK, you will need to have a passion for mental health and an ability to operate at all levels.

The successful applicant will generate income and support all aspects of communication and marketing, to help to maximise local support, raise awareness of our work in the community, and by providing exceptional supporter stewardship, in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communication strategy.

Key Duties

• Act as the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries and provide stewardship and donor care for Mind BLMK’s individual givers, corporates, groups, volunteers and other supporters of the charity, in line with the fundraising strategy.
• Act as first point of contact for all marketing, PR and event enquiries.
• Send donors bespoke information and materials to support their fundraising at Mind BLMK.
• Ensure supporter interaction points (telephone, post, email) adhere to the highest standard.
• Support existing and develop new partnerships with corporates, organisations, and individuals, to support income growth.
• Develop and maintain relationships with philanthropists and encourage legacy giving.
• Help with the co-ordination of fundraising volunteers, as requested or as appropriate.
• Help to identify and develop potential areas of fundraising growth and process improvements, in line with the Fundraising Strategy and supporting net income growth.
• Write and send outgoing thank you letters to all income streams.
• Help maintain an up-to-date and accurate supporter database, finance log and fundraising and communications materials.
• Support the implementation of marketing strategies and targeted campaigns; plan, develop, and ensure the production of multi-media communications, PR, and marketing materials and compelling stories.
• Work closely with external organisations in order to raise awareness of services available locally and increase access to provision for individuals across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.
