Overall purpose:
As Fundraising and Campaigns Marketing Manager in the Marketing & Communications team, you will drive Ben’s fundraising and commercial services with individuals and businesses within the automotive industry. You’ll work closely and collaboratively with colleagues to deliver the best possible results for communications delivered both digitally and physically (this can include content on our website, social channels, email and printed materials) to support the delivery of Ben’s overall strategy.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Managing the day-to-day marketing of fundraising/income campaigns using a test-and-learn approach across a range of new and existing channels and products
- Managing campaigns and projects from planning to delivery and evaluation, ensuring they are delivered on time and on budget
- Assisting with the ongoing monitoring and optimisation of fundraising campaigns and products
- Researching competitor campaigns, market trends, new tools and platforms
Planning and organising
- Create and execute Fundraising and Marketing plans to promote Ben’s services, events and campaigns against budgets and with clear ROIs, in line with longer-term org strategy
- Work across the range of fundraising and commercial products and services, to ensure pricing, positioning and promotional activities are aligned for maximum impact
- Support to look after brand management of Ben’s fundraising and commercial brands (DoIt4Ben, ILC, Ben Ball, Ben Training etc.)
- Plan, create and develop high-quality content which is tailored to audience personas, which they will find engaging and meets strategic objectives
- Utilise various channels, including social media, website, email marketing and traditional media, to reach the target audience effectively
- Support to develop a programme of regular content. Maintaining and updating Ben wide calendars as appropriate
- Work with colleagues to develop new products and update existing products that are relevant for our audiences that are channel and brand appropriate
- Manage the design, production and distribution of marketing collateral (digital and print), making sure it is consistent with our messaging, tone of voice and is audience appropriate
- Manage end to end email process – from creating emails, automations, using correct data & segments to sending & then evaluating campaigns
- Support online advertising (social, retargeting and PPC)
- Use a test and learn approach in order to learn from user behaviour and to ensure Ben leverages digital communications channels to reach and engage target audiences
Experience required:
(E = Essential/D = Desired):
- Significant marketing and fundraising experience and responsibility within a non-profit environment (minimum 2 years) (E)
- Experience of creating and delivering an annual programme of marketing (E) and fundraising activity (D)
- Experience of working in the automotive industry either in a campaign or hands on capacity (D)
- Experience of delivering strong ROI on fundraising campaigns (E)
- Confident communicator at all levels of the organisation, with the ability to work collaboratively across different areas of the organisation as required (E)
- Very strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and activities across multiple, simultaneous projects (E)
- Understanding and interpreting data (D)
- Experience of traditional and online marketing with an excellent understanding of the digital landscape (E)
- Writing, creating and producing content in multiple formats for various audiences and touch points (E)
- Managing end to end email production from data management and segmentation to email creation to sending and evaluation (E)
- Understanding and application of brand guidelines (E)
- Understanding and creation of on-page SEO and knowledge of the wider SEM implications (D)
- Social media channels, analytics and scheduling software e.g. Sprout Social (D)
Technical Knowledge:

How you will make a difference
As Trusts and Grants Manager you will be integral in managing and optimising existing funder relationships as well as developing new partnerships to help us achieve ambitious targets and drive change. This role will work with Trusts and Foundations of all sizes with a focus £25,000+ producing compelling applications, providing excellent stewardship and supporting project development across Rethink Mental Illness and Mental Health UK. This role will also work closely with the Head of Trusts and Grants to research, build relationships and secure partnerships with Strategic Funders who will support our Communities that Care strategy and drive change within the mental illness and mental health sector.

The Fundraising team exist so we can fund services and respond to the current mental health emergency. To enable us to deliver this strategy, we are investing in all Fundraising streams and in particular Individual Giving and Legacies so we can grow income from £300k to £1.3m over the next 4 years. The Individual Giving Officer will play a pivotal role in growing income and increasing supporter growth and engagement. There is also incremental expenditure investment across the programme year on year.
How you will make a difference
The Individual Giving Officer will work with the Individual Giving Manager to drive forward the Individual Giving strategy for Mental Health UK. Using both acquisition and retention activities they will grow the supporter base, increase life time value and deliver exceptional supporter experiences. They will use a variety of channels including digital, and develop authentic content to deliver outstanding engagement campaigns and supporter journeys for regular givers, cash supporters and payroll givers. They will also contribute to the Individual Giving & Legacies team and wider Directorate activities and plans which will deliver ambitious fundraising goals.

Development Officer
Salary £26,000 - £28,000 per annum (full-time equivalent)
Hours: Part time, 4 days per week
Location: Hybrid - London/Home
About MQ Mental Health Research:
MQ is a multi-award-winning international charity supporting cutting-edge and world-leading mental health research. By connecting scientists with the wider public, together we strive to understand mental health, improve treatments, and – one day – prevent mental illness. At a critical point in our development, delivering our five-year strategy, MQ aims to transform the lives of everyone affected by mental illness.
What you'll be doing:
The Development Officer role is highly varied, providing opportunities to use and develop skills including proposal writing, reporting, and prospect researching to support MQ’s fundraising and donor-relations activities. The role will also play a crucial part in supporting key operational and administrative functions of the wider Development team.
The right person will be passionate about tackling mental health through research, a self-motivator and driven to ensure that projects are delivered to the highest possible standards. The role will report to the Development Manager (Grants & Partnerships), working closely with and alongside an agile staff team of relationship and partnership managers.
This is a part-time role, 4 days per week. We require two days in the office per week.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Support the Development Team to fundraise for MQ’s work through five-figure applications to trusts and foundations.
- Support on reports and concept notes across our projects and income streams.
- Work with colleagues to identify and scope new high-value partnership prospects and application opportunities.
- Support the team to deliver high-value applications across trusts, major donors, corporates, and institutional funders.
- Working closely with the team to deliver against Development team annual budget and KPIs as well as report against income, expenditure, and other targets.
- Keep MQ’s databases up to date with all prospect actions.
Who we're looking for:
This role is for you, if you have:
- Previous fundraising (or relevant) experience
- Previous grant/bid writing experience
- Exceptional communication particularly in understanding and translating complex information and turning it in to compelling written documents
- Skilled at managing tasks and balancing priorities
- Excellent eye for detail and ability to work accurately, with minimal supervision
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to convey passion for MQ’s cause and the work that we do.
The following experience is highly desirable:
- Previous charity sector experience
- Previous experience in research organisation or international development / institutionally funded organisations
- Experience with databases and CRMs (NXT & Raiser’s Edge preferred)
