MNWB are going through an exciting period of growth. The role will strengthen the impact our funding achieves by setting up a formal grant management process which focuses on impact, whilst assisting the MNWB to strengthen partnership working.
An understanding of grant governance is crucial to the role. You will have experience of impact measurement and management either directly within a social enterprise or charity or as an investor, grant maker or consultant. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing relevant funding proposals and ensuring required guidelines are met to ensure good grant governance. An ability to process and interpret complex information and a sound understanding of grants management cycle impact reporting is key for this role.
Excellent people management skills will support and nurture new and existing relationships with stakeholders, working collaboratively to achieve strategic objectives. Knowledge of the maritime industry is desirable.

The Merchant Navy Welfare Board (MNWB) is the UK’s National Seafarers’ Welfare Board in accordance with ILO Maritime Labour Convention 2006 Regulation 4.4 (MLC, 2006). As the umbrella charity for the UK Merchant Navy and fishing fleets, the MNWB has 45 Constituent member organisations providing welfare support to serving and retired UK seafarers, and their families. These organisations provide a plethora of welfare services ranging from care homes to financial assistance with many supporting international seafarers. Working closely with Constituent member organisations and our 16 Port Welfare Committees, we cover the entire UK coastline and Gibraltar. The MNWB brings the maritime community together facilitating collaboration within this varied and complex sector.
