Job description

We have an opportunity for a Peer Support Worker to use own lived experience of mental health to support others, by navigating through the Criminal Justice System and accessing support for mental health needs.

Salary: £18,552.00 per annum
Contracted hours: 37.0 per week
Working days: Monday to Friday
Working hours: 7.4 hours per day


  • To work in the East London Foundation Trust, Liaison and Diversion team as a Mind BLMK Peer Support worker and deliver on contract requirements.
  • Encourage service users (including hard to reach clients with complex needs) to engage with the Liaison and Diversion Service, other agencies and referral pathways.
  • Deliver a strength-based approach to support using own lived experience of mental health, in order to facilitate a space where people feel accepted and understood. Share ideas and approaches that have been useful in recovery and embed this in working practices as a peer.
  • Increase the awareness and understanding of the range of local networks, community services and service user services available eg. Recovery college, Mind BLMK services.
  • Be able to provide support and advice to colleagues in the wider Liaison and Diversion Service/Team based on lived experience.
  • Raise any concerns within the wider Liaison and Diversion team and group/individual supervision and care planning, including review of care plans
  • Carry out health and safety responsibilities in line with Mind BLMK’s H&S policies, procedures and guidance (risk assessments, reviews, reporting, safeguarding, incidents/accidents, premises).
  • Carry out cash handling responsibilities as directed by your Line Manager in line with Mind BLMK’s financial policies, procedures and guidance (records, petty cash income and
  • expenditure).
  • Carry out responsibilities for the collection, updating, monitoring and reporting of service data in line with Mind BLMK’s contract and systems requirements and procedures.
