Job description

Mind BLMK is a local charity that has been supporting and providing services for adults affected by mental health issues for over 40 years.

We are excited to confirm funding has recently been secured to provide Crisis Cafes, to be delivered across the boroughs of Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Crisis Cafés provide out-of-hours 7 days a week support to those suffering from mental health issues, aiming to prevent escalation, reduce isolation, increase independence and self-management and improve mental health and wellbeing.

Peer Support Worker
Location: Luton
Salary: £20.700.00 pa

Hours: We would like this role to offer flexible employment for individuals so will offer roles from 12-30 hours a week

This is an exciting role for someone with lived experience of mental health issues to   use their experience of mental health to support others to deescalate a crisis; facilitate crisis focussed 1:1s and peer group sessions that offer structured interventions and support. We are looking for an individual who is a highly motivated peer worker, who is keen to apply their own experiences and develop knowledge and experience of supporting vulnerable adults using the recovery approach in service provision.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and boundaries awareness skills to support our flexible approach to delivering crisis interventions moving forwards. You will also need a willingness to learn skills that will allow you to develop and support volunteers to deliver effective person centred support for our clients. This high profile and challenging role will require a can-do attitude and enthusiastic approach to problem solving.

Once the services are mobilised you will be required to work in a flexible way in order to offer a service which operates during evening hours in the week and at weekends and also to engage with the wider BLMK team and external partners.
