With public awareness of mental health higher than ever before, there’s never been a more exciting time to join Mind. We’re growing and changing fast, but there’s still much to be done. Could you help us move closer to our goal of seeing everyone with a mental health problem get the support they need and the respect they deserve?
This is an exciting and varied role for a Media Officer who would relish the opportunity to work right across the media – from working with journalists on our busy news desk to supporting producers at soaps, dramas and documentaries to develop mental health stories. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about the power of the media to influence public opinion and is equally happy juggling busy news days with managing longer term projects.
You’ll spend roughly half your time working as part of our reactive news team, and the other half will be dedicated to the Media Advisory Service. Here, you will advise broadcasters on how to portray mental health issues and sensitively and accurately and develop relationships with the media and case studies to proactively influence those portrayals. You will also play a crucial role in planning and managing our media engagement events, focusing on the prestigious Mind Media Awards.
