Job description

MLC Partners are working with one of the leading homeless charities in the UK to recruit a Payroll Manager following a recent restructure of the team. The role joins the organisation at a busy time, as the organisation were on the front line at the height of the pandemic, partnering with the government to find shelter for those unfortunate enough to be sleeping rough. This newly created role reports into a supportive Financial Controller who is focussed on team development.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Manage the day-to-day payroll for an organisation with staff on a variety of different contracts, including variable rates and flexible shifts.
  • Act as the key point of contact for any payroll queries from both internal and external stakeholders, including the outsourced payroll provider and pension provider.
  • Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and post journals to ensure the accurate financial position of the organisation is maintained.
  • Develop a suite of payroll KPI’s and reports to track these for presentation to the exec leadership team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be CIPP qualified in payroll management or extensively qualified by experience
  • Have worked with a complex organisation, with multiple payrolls and staff on a variety of contracts.
  • Ideally be accustomed to the iTrent payroll system, or well-versed with other payroll systems.
  • Have excellent people skills, being able to manage a variety of relationships.
