Job description

Money and Mental Health is looking for an experienced philanthropy specialist, with a demonstrable track record of finding, applying for and securing charitable grants from trusts and foundations.

 

About us:

The Money and Mental Health Policy Institute was set up by Martin Lewis in 2016. We are working towards a world in which the vicious cycle of money and mental health problems is broken, so that we all have an equal chance of financial security, regardless of our mental health; and everyone’s mental health can flourish, regardless of their financial circumstances. We aim to be a world-class centre of expertise, but we don’t produce research to just sit on shelves. We develop practical policy and solutions, working in partnership with those providing services, those who shape them, and those using them, to find out what really works. We campaign, build, test and innovate until our research leads to real change. 

 

The Package:

Salary: £37k (FTE)

Location: Money and Mental Health’s central London office or suitable for a home-worker who is able to travel to London on a regular basis (minimum twice a month). The Money and Mental Health team has been hybrid-working since September 2021 combining office and home working in line with the latest government guidelines and the Charity’s new flexible working policy.

Hours: 4-5 days a week. The charity is currently trialing a new flexible working policy with core hours of 10am - 3pm and remaining contracted hours distributed through the week flexibly. We would be happy to update you on this at the interview stage.

Who we’re looking for

  • An experienced philanthropy specialist, with a demonstrable track record of finding, applying for and securing charitable grants from trusts and foundations 

  • Someone with experience of developing relationships with charitable trusts and ideally high-net-worth individuals

  • An individual with exceptional communication skills and the the ability to work across all levels of an organisation

  • A self-starter who is comfortable working independently and steering the direction that the organisation takes with grant fundraising.

  • A charity with a strong and demonstrable track record of real impact 

  • Authoritative and trusted research, lead by our expert team and driven by our Research Community, a group of over 3,000 people with lived experience of mental health problems

  • To help tackle the link between money and mental health problems, issues that have risen even higher up the agenda of funders and policy-makers as a result of the pandemic.
