Interim Head of Commercial Finance for an expanding NHS Trust in London

An expanding NHS Trust in London is seeking an interim Head of Commercial Finance ASAP.
You would be the Trust wide senior Finance lead for the Private Care Division and the strategic finance lead for the R&D Division, responsible for leading and managing the financial performance of the Private Care Division.
The role will encompass maximising revenue, controlling expenditure and whilst providing financial and commercial advice to the Head of Private Care, the Private Care senior management team and Trust Board in order to achieve the unit’s financial plan and strategic aims.

Strategic Planning for Private Care and R&D Divisions
The post holder will have overall responsibility Trust wide for both Private Care and R&D Divisions including financial leadership and financial strategic direction for the Divisions.
Provide clear financial leadership and commercial support including developing the current year and future year annual plans and cash flow forecasts for both Divisions.
To utilise a wide range of often complex financial and commercial information to advise the Heads of Private Care and R&D as too the direction and formulation of business strategic plans.
To support the Heads of both Private Care and R&D in identifying and reacting accordingly to any competitor or market activity to minimise the adverse impact on the unit and take potential advantage to deliver enhanced commercial performance.
Contribution to strategic projects where appropriate
Operational Private Care
To produce periodic reports on income and activity including forecasts and to analyse the information and to make recommendations to achieve and exceed the financial plan.
Identifying the main drivers to contribution within the unit to drive change.
To ensure processes and mechanisms are in place and improved on a continual basis to ensure all PP activity is recorded and invoiced in a timely and accurate manner.
To support the Head of Private Patients and other members of the PPU management team in the management of expenditure budgets, advising on variances and challenging expenditure.
To update the Trusts finance team on any cash flow forecast variances and any deviations from the financial plan in a timely manner.
To support the unit in producing business cases for operational and capital expenditure
To ensure that the units trading accounts are produced and maintained on a regular basis including liaising with the Trusts senior managers to ensure accurate accounts.
To ensure that the unit delivers the maximum amount of revenue for the unit by gaining market intelligence on pricing strategies and building relationships with insurers and embassies to deliver the best possible prices. To ensure the unit provides competitive quotes to self-fund patients and develop profitable procedure packages.
To generate, monitor and respond to KPI’s for the finance and administration functions.
To establish processes and mechanisms to ensure Consultants are paid in an accurate and timely manner through direct line management of billing staff using the provider ledger function in the units invoicing system.
To deputise for the Head of Private Patients in their absence.
To ensure that Standing Financial Instructions are followed at all times.
To maintain financial policies in accordance with Department of Health, professional and other guidelines.
To implement and maintain procedures and working guidance notes to preserve consistency in the financial advice and information provided on income.
Dealing with a rage of complex financial enquires on a day to day basis, you would directly manage one member of staff but be accountable for three teams of staff, which include ten employees of varying grades.
ACA, ACCA qualified
Experience of working within large and complex private health organisations
Some NHS Trust experience would be a bonus, but is not essential
