Job description

We are working with this charity to recruit their new Finance Systems Manager. You will lead the Finance Systems Team and support both the Finance Systems Assistant manager and Finance Systems Assistant in their day to day management of finance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line manage the Finance Systems Assistant Manager
  • Responsible for the management, support and training regarding the financial systems of all charities and finance databases
  • Responsible for the training and support of all Finance staff when using any systems tool or process as well as to train, support and set up the 200+ organisational users across the group. With a high turnover this will involve the setting up of approximately 70 new staff accounts per year
  • Develop and maintain all the required controls for a group of charities working across 5 continents
  • Support the staff body in the process of setting up new suppliers. This requires coordinating efforts with the Legal, HR, IT, GDPR, Safeguarding and H&S departments as well as the Director of Professional Services and Procurement Group. • Maintain and continuously improve the tools which facilitate the payments of invoices, honorariums, gifts, grants, refunds and passthroughs
  • Maintain and continuously improve the underlying SQL queries and tools which support the reporting system
  • Work with the Technology Services department on a daily basis to maintain the systems and controls in place. Coordinate with them when system issues arise and collaboratively working together to find solutions.
  • Facilitate group-wide communications and training for key finance events including the budget process
  • Responsible for developing the technical skills in the Finance department as well as advising group wide on technical opportunities and developments.
  • Responsible to manage and assure data integrity, and control access to sensitive information including salaries, roles, budget details and management accounts

Knowledge Areas

  • Comprehensive knowledge of SQL and SQL Server Management studio, as well as how to connect these into various API’s and software solutions.
  • Development level Knowledge of Power BI to generate reporting tools
  • Development level knowledge of Power Apps and Power Automate
  • Expert knowledge of Access Dimensions software
  • Expert knowledge of Access AOI, FPA, and Access workspace
  • Expert knowledge of Excel with the ability to create bridge solutions between various systems from scratch.
  • Systems administrator knowledge for SharePoint to maintain and secure the 40+ Finance sites
  • Basic knowledge of Charity VAT including business, non-business, out of scope, exempt and apportionment.
  • Basic knowledge of how to calculate UK pay, taxation, pensions, salary sacrifice schemes, and UK tax coding
  • Broad knowledge of Legal, H&S, HR, Insurance, Safeguarding and GDPR connected to the engagement of suppliers. Skills • Have strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to identify and react to emerging issues and find technical solutions
  • Manage system risks on a day-to-day basis
