About the Role

The Content Officer is a key role within MSI’s Global Communications team, bringing our stories and data to life with engaging and effective copyrighting and design content.

Our Content Officer will source stories and create compelling visual and written content, including short videos, social graphics, and other creative content, finding opportunities to link these stories with the news agenda, to deliver engaging campaigns and content via our digital channels.

Our Content Officer will support and lead on story gathering trips, managing external agencies when needed, to gather high quality photography, videography, and case studies from MSI’s country programmes, providers, and clients.

With a visual eye, the content officer will act as a guardian of the MSI brand. They will help to draft, design, and edit materials, including newsletters, publications, and website landing pages, with compelling copywriting to match, working with external design agencies where necessary.

As a keen writer, the Content Officer will be required to produce high quality copy and content for other channels, including internal communications, as required.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Strong experience in a busy communications, marketing, digital or creative team (essential) 
  • Proven impact at delivering high impact, engaging content (essential) 
  • Experience of creating visual content including video and design products (essential) 
  • Experience of disseminating content via digital channels and impactful campaigns (essential) 
  • Excellent digital skills – highly proficient at Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint (essential) 
  • Proven creativity with strong design skills and experience using Photoshop or similar (essential) 
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise (essential) 
  • Experience of managing external agencies (essential) 
  • Experience of providing counsel and support on communications activities to colleagues at all levels within an organisation (essential) 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including grammar and spelling (essential) 
  • Exposure to, and experience with, website content management systems (essential) 
  • Experience working in an international organisation (desirable) 
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector (desirable).

  • Outstanding organisational skills, including the ability to use initiative, prioritise workload and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Enjoy working as part of a busy and fast-paced team. 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Location: London Support Office - hybrid working, e.g up to 2 days per week home working may be allowed

Full-time: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £30,500 - £35,000 + discretionary bonus + benefits
