Job description

This is an exciting time to join Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre (MDSC)! We are a small but growing charity with a dynamic, supportive and committed team and a flexible working environment. The role of Administration Officer will have a big impact in supporting our charity’s growth and sustainability and presents a unique opportunity to work in a small, close-knit team and see the difference your work makes to the wellbeing of our service users.

The Administration Officer will take a lead in ensuring that the Charity’s operations, monitoring and reporting requirements are fulfilled, supporting the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team. They will also play a vital role in ensuring we are able to maximise the efficiency of our operations by exploring opportunities for improved systems and processes, better integration within our team and effective progress monitoring and reporting against our therapy activities (outputs).

We are seeking someone with proven administration experience who is highly proficient in MS Office and has strong organisational and problem-solving skills. A charitable mindset and strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are also important.

Context

Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre (MDSC) is committed to transforming access to physical therapies for people with muscular dystrophy (MD) in the Midlands. From our headquarters in Coventry, and with satellite clinics in Birmingham, Leicester and most recently, the Black Country we support 400+ people with MD, primarily by providing specialist physical therapy on a long-term basis.  We are the only organisation in the Midlands region to do so, and one of only two in the UK.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, we secured a five-year grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to build a platform for expansion to meet significant demand throughout the Midlands and beyond.  Funding has enabled us to recruit additional staff, and build a strengthened organisational structure and finances, and the Administration Officer will play an important role in facilitating our progress. By 2025 we plan to be supporting over 1,100 people with MD and provide therapy at further satellite clinics in Worcestershire and Northants.

Our Board of Trustees all either have muscular dystrophy or have a family member with MD and are closely connected with the team to support the work of the Charity and service users.  Our team work together collaboratively in a people-centred approach to provide meaningful support to our service users and each another.
