Position Title: Mosques & Community Fundraising Officer (full-time)

Type: Full-Time

Duration: 12 month Fixed Term Contract (with a 6-Month Probationary Period)

Hours: 35 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the UK’s leading Muslim charities. This position is central to our campaign to develop and maintain relationships with mosques, schools, volunteers, community centres along with other Islamic institutions in order maximise fundraising and awareness of Muslim Hands.

Position location: Birmingham, Manchester or Bradford (surrounding areas may be considered)

Based in one of the locations mentioned above, you will be required to travel country-wide, to engage with our target organisations & volunteers. you will also occasionally be required to travel to our London and Nottingham headquarters.

You will be working closely with other members of the fundraising department to gain exposure for the charity and the fundraising campaigns run throughout the year. 

The Events & Volunteer team is essential to the growth of Muslim Hands both in raising awareness via our events which host thousands of people throughout the year, increasing awareness of our work and generating donations (currently £1-2 million per year). Your role will be central in expanding this and helping further the reach of Muslim Hands.

Key Responsibilities

  • To research and identify appropriate mosques, schools, community organisations and other Islamic institutions which can support our work.
  • Maintain regular communications with the above organisations to book events and collections throughout the year.
  • To promote fundraising campaigns and events through social media, leaflet and poster distribution.
  • To attend events related to mosques and Islamic institutions for networking purposes.
  • To participate in meetings associated with the work above and to ensure that decisions from any meetings or discussions are followed up.
  • To organise and coordinate regional fundraising tours and events.
  • To assist the fundraising team in all other aspects of delivering campaigns and activities
  • Assist on live TV appeals
  • Madrasha/Makthab students to be engaged and confirmed for events (eg Gaza Winter walk)

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with mosques and other institutions, planning fundraising activities and experience working in marketing or sales.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of contemporary fundraising techniques and a thorough understanding of the UK Muslim community and voluntary sector.
  • Ability to speak at least one of the following community languages: Arabic, Bengali, Urdu
  • Clean, full UK driving licence – Must be able and willing to drive long wheel based van
  • Right to work in the UK.
