Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma – the second most common form of blood cancer. It originates in the bone marrow and currently affects around 17,500 people in the UK. Whilst treatable, myeloma is not yet curable.
Our ultimate goal is to find a cure. We are dedicated to ensuring that patients get access to the right treatment at the right time, and to improving standards of treatment and care through research, education and awareness raising. We also provide a range of information and support services to patients, family and friends to help deal with a diagnosis of myeloma.
About the role
Myeloma UK is working towards fulfilling its five year Fundraising Strategy and the Philanthropy and Partnership Manager pivotal is pivotal to the achievement of this goal. You will be working within the wider Income Generation Team to manage the charity's dynamic philanthropic fundraising program and leading on the management of high level donor events.
The successful applicant will be maintaining and nurturing existing relationships and driving new business opportunities from foundations and major donor prospects as well as providing donors and supporters with first class stewardship ensuring their long-term support.
As a member of the Income Generation department, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the fundraising strategy, operational and departmental plans and will contribute towards the planning and delivery of the business’s operational plans and the development of team members
Myeloma UK’s office in in Edinburgh. Remote working from other parts of the UK could be considered if the post holder is also able to maintain a frequent and meaningful presence at the Edinburgh office. Frequent travel across the UK will be required.
This is a unique opportunity to work for a national UK charity in a senior fundraising role. To be successful you will have significant experience of successful trust and major gift fundraising and soliciting five figure gifts from trusts and individuals.
You will have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding challenging budget targets and experience in managing and leading teams to deliver effective staff performance and personal development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as a high level of attention to detail and expertise in the use of Microsoft Office packages, Raiser’s Edge and web-based technologies.
