NCW is a dynamic literature house for contemporary writing. Our home is a Grade One-listed medieval building consisting of a 120-seat venue for live events, workshop spaces, a two-bedroom cottage for writers and translators and modern open plan offices. Dragon Hall is located on the historic King St on the banks of the Wensum River in the heart of Norwich, England’s first UNESCO City of Literature.
NCW launched in summer 2018 but dates back to the early 2000s. Growing from just three staff in 2006, then under the name Writers’ Centre Norwich (WCN), the organisation has grown consistently under the leadership of CEO Chris Gribble. We are a friendly, hard-working team, passionate about working with a whole range of people and communities, supporting people to own and share their own stories.
The Executive Director (ED) works collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to deliver NCW’s vision and strategic ambition. The position’s focus is internal strategic development, promoting an organisational culture which achieves the highest standards of inclusive artistic and community outcomes.
The ED leads on business planning and works closely with the CEO to deliver strategic expectations to stakeholders, partners and audiences. They lead a senior team responsible for programmes, communications, development, HR, operations, venue management and commercial hires. With the CEO and Finance Director they ensure robust financial performance and monitoring is maintained, and act as Deputy CEO as required.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
