The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is seeking a Director of Marketing to develop the NMRN brand and increase footfall and spend at their many attractions including the largest historic fleet in the world from the nation’s flagship HMS Victory to the heroic Falkland war landing craft Foxtrot 7.
The NMRN’s vision is to be the world’s most inspiring naval museum, enabling people to enjoy, learn and engage with the epic story of the Royal Navy and its impact on the modern world. With their headquarters in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the NMRN care for capital ships, frigates, submarines, airplanes and nuclear bombs.
The NMRN has ambitious plans to increase financial resources and are now recruiting a Director of Marketing to work alongside a new Director of Fundraising to ensure the best use of all opportunities to build on existing fundraising growth and double their income.
The Director of Marketing will be responsible for all marketing programmes and activities and for developing and implementing a long-term marketing strategy. They will also ensure that marketing income is maximised through effective development of motivating products and offers and will work closely with the Director General and other Directors.
NMRN are looking for candidates with significant knowledge of marketing including brand, digital, communications and PR, as well as an understanding of visitor attraction market dynamics and requirements. You will have a strong desire to exceed and have a highly pro-active, creative approach to marketing and to motivating your teams. You will have a track record in developing and delivering successful marketing strategies for complex organisations with multiple products, locations and target audiences and have significant experience of consumer brand development. You will also have experience of marketing in a digital context across a variety of digital media channels.
