About Us

National Parks England advocates for, and promotes, the needs of England’s National Park Authorities. We provide a collective voice to Government and Parliament for the bodies tasked with protecting some of the nation’s most beautiful countryside for everyone to enjoy.

Our mission is to ensure that government, partners and stakeholders understand, are inspired by, and value the work of England’s National Parks and provide sustained support and resources to further National Park purposes and our vision.

We’re now looking for an Executive Assistant to join us at CAN Mezzanine, Borough and provide a high level of support to our Executive Director and Head of Policy.

The Benefits

This is a unique opportunity for an Executive Assistant to support work that champions the National Park Authorities and safeguards these extraordinary places so they can be enjoyed by all.

You will have the chance to work closely with senior figures in our organisation, giving you valuable insight into how some of England’s most stunning landscapes and wildlife are protected.

You will be at the centre of an organisation that works across a wide range of stimulating issues – from addressing climate change and restoring nature; through to supporting rural communities and encouraging sustainable tourism.

What’s more, you’ll be based in CAN Mezzanine in Borough, a fantastic office space dedicated to third sector organisations. You will be surrounded by people who are working together to make the world a better place.

The Role

As the Executive Assistant, you will proactively support our Executive Director and Head of Policy.

Joining a small team, you will strive to anticipate and resolve issues as they arise and handle multiple priorities to ensure the smooth running of our office.

Some of your duties will include:

- Monitoring the Executive Director’s emails and managing diaries
- Handling telephone enquiries
- Arranging appointments and organising travel
- Undertaking small research projects as requested
- Providing the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for National Parks, including co-ordinating meetings, speakers, advertising and the production of notes
- Handling our social media accounts
- Maintaining the post, database, archiving and filing systems

About You

To join us as an Executive Assistant, you will need:

- Experience of working in a secretarial and/or administrative role, including note/minute taking which covers complex discussions
- Previous experience of office administration, including managing diaries, email accounts, preparing correspondence and cost-effective purchasing
- Experience of organising meetings and small events
- Excellent IT skills, including the ability to use email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation packages effectively
- A qualification in business administration/ICT or equivalent proven ability
- Numeracy and literacy skills to GCSE level

Ideally, you will have an understanding of the context in which National Park Authorities operate. Experience or an understanding of updating websites and social media would also be an advantage.

The closing date for applications is the 19th February 2020, with interviews anticipated to be held on the 10th March 2020.
