We have a new exciting opportunity, not to be missed! At The Scout Association we are currently looking for a National Safeguarding Operations Manager to join our team based in Gilwell Park, London. You will join us on a full time, 12 month fixed term contract for maternity cover working 35 hours per week, to commence July 2017 and will receive a competitive salary of £45,670 per annum plus fantastic benefits.
About the National Safeguarding Operations Manager role
The purpose of this role is to manage the operations of the Association’s national Safeguarding Team to provide specialist support to the Movement on matters relating to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults across the UK. The Association is responsible for safeguarding almost half a million young people who access Scouting on a weekly basis, and in excess of 150,000 adult volunteers. The national Safeguarding Team act as the Association’s Designated Officers for all allegation management processes and concerns regarding the Association’s members, this includes the management of welfare concerns relating to young people in Scouting.
The Association works closely with a number of statutory agencies including police, Children’s Services and Disclosure authorities. It is the post holder’s responsibility to ensure that the Association’s national Safeguarding Operations Team is working in line with UK wide legislation and guidance to ensure the effective safeguarding of all young people in Scouting. This includes oversight and case management of allegations in accordance with the Association’s policies and procedures. In addition, the role encompasses responsibility for data analysis used to compile reports for various internal and external groups/bodies. There is also an element of responsibility for the national safeguarding training programme.
What we’re looking for in our National Safeguarding Operations Manager
This role requires a significant level of professional knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices UK wide, as well as substantial experience of working within either a statutory or volunteer organisation in a similar role. The ability to manage a large team of safeguarding professionals, and provide professional case supervision and advice/risk assessment is critical along with the ability to project and budget manage.
