Are you driven by supporting communities and community action? Do want to lead communications with a wide network on a range of social issues for a national organisation with local voice? We are looking for someone to step into our exciting role of Communications Officer to lead our communications work through a range of media. You will be pivotal to NAVCA fulfilling its mission, championing social action through effective local voluntary and community sector (VCS) infrastructure.
NAVCA is the umbrella body for local VCS infrastructure, working to strengthen communities and promote social action. We support a thriving local voluntary sector, working with our members locally so that anyone who wants to volunteer, start a community group has good, local advice and support. NAVCA delivers outcomes against the four functions of infrastructure – leadership and advocacy, community support and development, volunteering, and partnerships. As a small energetic team, we work collaboratively and flexibly, supporting each other as well as our members.
The communications officer sits at the heart of our purpose, developing and disseminating a range of products and communications tools to communicate our work effectively with members and stakeholders. You will produce and design clear and engaging communications including member bulletins, blogs, press releases and website content. You will work with members to maintain a clear understanding of them and their needs, using insights to inform your work. You will maintain the website to ensure it remains fresh and relevant, and build and maintain a bank of digital resources for members.
Please see the attached documents for the full job description and personal specification for this position.
The role is full time (35 hours per week), with a salary of £25,625 per annum plus an 8% employer pension (no employee contribution required) and 25 days holiday plus 11 days public holidays. You will be supported in your training and career development. We welcome applicants seeking flexible working patterns or job sharing and we welcome loan or secondment arrangements.
This is a remote working position, with travel to our Sheffield office required on a weekly basis. Our work with voluntary and community organisations requires a degree of flexibility and the post holders will occasionally be expected to work out of normal office hours.
We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that celebrates and values diversity. We welcome your application whatever your background or situation. Under-represented groups including ethnic minorities and disabled people are strongly encouraged. We don’t want you to ‘fit’ our culture, we want you to enrich it. If you have a passion for making a difference and share in our vision for empowering local community action, we would love to hear from you.
To apply, please download our application form and return it by 11:30pm on 6 January 2022.
