Head of Business Development

Salary:  £42,025 plus 8% pension contribution

Home based (within 2 hours travel time of Sheffield)

 

In the past two years Tom Watson, our Head of Business Development, has taken us from a standing start of virtually zero to income generation of over £250,000 pa.  We now have a clear product to offer to partners and funders, and a foundation of excellent relationships with clients and collaborators. We have an absolute commitment to generating income in ways that directly benefit our members, and it’s a model that is working. The pipeline is starting to flow, and the future is decidedly promising.

 

But sadly for us, Tom has decided it is time for him to move on – he’s created that platform and now it is time to hand over the baton to someone else to maximise the value of it. And at the same time, we know we need to move up a gear in the way we deliver our income generation work, as our organisation continues to evolve and mature. 

 

So: we are looking for a new Head of Business Development to start working with us in the new year.

 

It’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a national body that is small in size but that punches well above its weight.  You’ll be part of a dynamic, agile, fully committed collaborative team, all focused on bringing the best value to our members and making the world a better place for the multitude of small local voluntary sector organisations that are the life blood of local communities. And you’ll take responsibility for the income generation strategy that will ensure our sustainability for years to come.

 

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • An entrepreneurial, outcome focused approach
  • Excellent abilities and proven experience in creating and building meaningful relationships with funding bodies, clients, sponsors and delivery partners
  • Strong project management and reporting skills
  • A highly collaborative, open and engaging mindset
  • A firm commitment to using digital tools and human-centred thinking to deliver your best performance
  • The ability to ‘squeeze the juice’ out of the resources and opportunities available to you
  • An understanding of or sympathy with the work and context of our members in the local, place based voluntary sector

 

The role will be home based, with regular travel to Sheffield and London, as well as across England.  You should be located within 2 hours travel time of Sheffield.

 

You’ll manage a full time Programmes Manager, plus freelance support as required for specific projects, and you’ll report direct to the Chief Executive as a member of the senior management team.

 

As well as a salary of £42,025 pa we offer an 8% employer’s contribution to your pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and a three day shut-down at Christmas, and the flexibility to manage your own diary across the working week.
