Debt Recovery Manager / Debt Collection / Arrears

Our client is a not-for-profit housing association committed to providing affordable local homes for their customers. They have over 6,500 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership in Wiltshire, Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset and employ nearly 300 staff from their offices in Trowbridge and Melksham. 


The role

The purpose of this role is to ensure that all former accounts are managed to maximise income. 

It has the following main responsibilities;

  • Dealing with the recovery of former tenant arrears, sundry and other debts

  • Monitoring debt for former tenants, lifeline, garages, sewerage charges, leaseholders, recharges and outstanding invoices

  • Negotiating with debtors and agreeing repayment plans

  • Visiting debtors where necessary, making arrangements for payment


What you need

For this role you’ll need to have the following skills and experience;

  • An understanding of the arrears collection process and debt management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience of applying for county court judgements would be beneficial as would knowledge of housing benefit and welfare reform

  • Ability to drive and have access to a motor vehicle

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines
