Media Officer / PR Officer 

London or Newark

Full Time - 35 hours per week

£25,000 per annum (plus £3,000 London Allowance)

About the role:

 

They are seeking a Media Officer to join their Communications Team. The main purpose of this role is to promote the Trusts and their activities and messages to UK audiences through the media with a view to influencing key stakeholders, public opinion and action for wildlife. Your main responsibilities will include:

 

  • Delivery of high-profile, high-impact media activity, working to build the role as a powerful communicator

  • Maintaining an overview of stories and policy initiatives from across the movement

  • Managing press enquiries

  • Actively selling stories to the national media, drafting and distributing press releases, media comments, features and letters to editors.

  • Generating ideas, writing and editing engaging content for online, print, digital and social media channels

 

What they are looking for:

 

  • Experience of generating news stories 

  • Experience of public relations 

  • Experience of crisis management and managing sensitive issues

  • Experience of copywriting, editing, sub-editing and proofreading

  • Ability to spot a good story

  • Knowledge of how print, broadcast and online media like to work

  • Knowledge of environmental issues especially nature conservation
