Are you passionate about making a difference to Young People in the Community?
We are looking for a Youth Worker with the experience, skills and enthusiasm to lead our two established youth groups in Newbury, working 14.8 hours per week.
You will have the scope to develop the projects and take the work in new directions, depending on your interests, which might be sport, music or something else! You will need the ability to work collaboratively with other voluntary organisations, schools and churches. Being able to build rapport and positive relationships with young people from a variety of backgrounds is key.
You will be working with and inspiring a team of committed volunteers. We will provide professional supervision and support from the trustees, but you will be our lead person in the community, so being comfortable with working independently is vital.
We are looking for a committed Christian with a calling for youth work. You might have a JNC qualification or equivalent, or significant experience of youth work. You must also have experience of working in the community and a good understanding of safeguarding. You will be expected to work regular evenings and some weekends.
A genuine occupational requirement exists for the post-holder to be a Christian, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
Newbury YMCA is committed to safeguarding young people and appointment will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS Disclosure with barred list.
Closing Date: 14th July 2019
Interviews are likely to take place in the week beginning 22nd July
