Global Operations Manager - compliance, risk, quality, performance and systems

Old Street, London and hybrid working (including c2months international travel pa)

Saferworld is an independent international organisation working to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives.

We work with people affected by conflict to improve their safety and sense of security, and conduct wider research and analysis. Using this evidence we work to improve local, national and international policies and practices that can help build lasting peace. 


Saferworld has 160 colleagues spread across country programmes in East Africa, Middle East, Central Asia and Asia, and policy & advocacy centres in London, Beijing, Brussels, Vienna and Washington. In our programme areas we work in partnership with organisation and institutions, supporting community groups including women and youth activists in their efforts to build peace and respond to the impact of conflict, and by identifying and addressing safety and peace-building needs and actions globally and locally.

Managing compliance and risk, monitoring quality and performance and evolving systems to deliver on our commitment is of paramount importance and the Global Operations Manager is the lead more making sure that we do.


This a far reaching role in every respect. We deliver programmes across the globe and partner with organisations working to different regulatory regimes and all with varying degrees of risk to our people and the communities and partners we work with.


Technical knowledge and expertise in compliance for international and emergency programmes is essential. Equally important, if not more so, is the ability to get alongside people working on the ground to understand the challenges from their perspective and to be able to win hearts and minds to ensure things are done in ways that are practical, effective and, above all, safe.
