Retirement Living Support Worker

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people? For over 90 years, the housing association has been providing affordable housing across the UK to people as well as care for the elderly and support for those who face homelessness and we now have an opportunity for a Retirement Living Support Worker to join the team in Swindon.

Position: Retirement Living Support Worker

Location: Swindon - SN1 4LB

Hours: Part-time, 19.25 hours per week

Salary: £22,559 per annum (pro-rata)

Contract: Permanent

Benefits: Opt-in to the auto-enrolment pension scheme or enhanced rate scheme, 25 days’ holiday per year (plus bank holidays), 10% salary increase after 12 months' service, dependent on work performance, family friendly benefits providing enhanced maternity, paternity, shared parental leave and adoption, Riverside Rewards scheme and app.

The difference you’ll make

You’ll be working from across the supported services and you’ll support a number of different people. Your main base location's will be Goddard House, SN1 4LB/ Rockleaze, BS35 2JD and Kings Court BS34 6JW.

You’ll support customers in a variety of ways. For example, linking them in with other support agencies, promoting healthy initiatives and liaise with care professionals and hospital services to develop links and facilitate successful hospital admissions and discharges to lead more resilient and independent lives.

It’ll be your job to help boost their confidence and support them on their journey.

Through all of this you’ll need to keep records of everything, so there is some admin to do.

At times this role is tough but most of the time it can be incredibly rewarding. You will need to be resilient, empathetic and able to leave your work at work and not take it home with you.

As a minimum requirement, you’ll need:

  • Experience of supporting older people within a community setting
  • Experience of working with older and vulnerable client groups
  • Experience of delivering structured support in either housing or social care.
  • Access to a Car and full driving licence  due to the flexibility of covering several locations
