Job description

The Job

The job is to lead on strategic financial planning for Nightingale Hammerson. You will oversee the 5-10 year strategic financial forecasting for the organisation and development of a clear IT strategy. You will work closely with the CEO to develop the long term strategic plans and budgets for the organisation.

You will be working with key stakeholders (Trustees, Finance and Investment Committees, volunteers, professional colleagues) to review, create and implement a long-term financial strategy.  The strategy will encompass Nightingale Hammerson’s values of excellence, dignity, respect. integrity, compassion, care and teamwork. It will embody a culture of innovation and best practice and ensure new income generation opportunities are maximised across all teams.

Main activities

You will lead from the front, managing and developing a finance team who will implement a system change over that will include, but not limited to, better support for budget holders, interfacing with other systems within our residents services and fundraising teams, whilst providing strong financial controls and excellent reporting. 

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing key contacts to benefit all areas of finance and IT activity. Key to the success of this job will be your ability to lead on and facilitate strategic financial modelling for future scenarios, working collaboratively across the organisation with key stakeholders and their networks.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining financial systems and preparing and presenting regular and appropriate reports to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Trustees and Finance Committee. This will include monitoring systems for forecasting, contingency plans and key performance indicators. You will also be responsible for overseeing the expenditure of the department.

The job will also include managing the Head of ICT and taking a wider interest in use of Technology across the organisation.

You will develop and sustain high level contacts relevant to the work of the department and represent the organisation at public events as appropriate. You will develop and maintain good working relationships with other relevant organisations and partnerships and maintain an overview of developments in the external environment which could potentially impact Nightingale Hammerson. 

You will develop the necessary policies, procedures and guidelines required, with consideration to legal constraints in finance and IT and keep abreast of current issues and good practice in this area.

You will maintain confidentiality at all times to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and GDPR and ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Nightingale Hammerson policies and procedures.

You will also be expected to attend training course and conferences, attend Board and organisational meetings as required.

Skills and Experience required

Mid or senior management experience

Experience of finance strategy is desirable
