As CFG's Policy Officer you will make an impactful contribution to CFG's policy and advocacy work. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, including policy-makers, charity members and corporate partners, you will contribute to the smooth running of the Policy Team's work and effectiveness. You will be comfortable using your research and analytical skills to ensure CFG remains at the forefront of its advocacy work on behalf of its members and the wider sector. You will have a passion for getting to grips with complex policy issues and bringing people together to engage with them. As a member of the Policy and Communications Directorate, you'll work alongside the Communications Team and other colleagues to ensure our policy work is shared with a range of external audiences. Are you a communications professional looking for your next move? We're looking for a Communications Officer to join our Policy and Communications Directorate. You'll have experience in working across PR/media relations, campaigning and content creation for professional/B2B/charity audiences and working to tight deadlines. Salary: £40,845 per annum rising to £42,996 after 12 months in London. £36,817 per annum rising to £38,968 after 12 months outside of London.
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Job share or substantial part-time applications welcome.

About the role
We’re looking for someone with a strategic mindset to join our interdisciplinary team of consultants.
At NCVO we run our consultancy and training services as a social business. We provide cost effective and high-quality support focused on the areas which matter most to charities. Our work generates income and valuable insights to support NCVO in achieving our mission.
Our business is growing, and we’re looking for a passionate and innovative team player to help us provide expert strategy support to clients across England. You’ll need to be a confident facilitator attuned to the needs of the sector, identifying emerging themes and areas of support.
The role focuses on the delivery of consultancy and training. It is responsible for meeting income targets, managing project budgets, and coordinating projects. This is done with oversight and support from senior and lead consultants.
You will:
- develop bids and work with clients independently – gaining input and agreement from other consultants on viability and the decision to bid
- pitch for work
- manage and coordinate projects from end to end, with support from senior and lead consultants
- communicate and influence effectively
- coordinate the work of existing associates and agree fees within an established framework.
You don’t need to have experience working as a consultant before. But we need you to be curious, analytical and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
As well as being motivated by creating change for our clients through consultancy, mentoring and training, you will also need to be energised by hitting targets on utilisation and income. Please see the job description for full details.

You'll lead a team comprised of new and existing members of staff all working on this priority.
The Community Wealth Fund is an exciting opportunity to:
• To improve social infrastructure in places with relatively high deprivation and/or low social capital.
• To empower local people to identify needs and make decisions on what is best for their area.

Working closely with partner organisations, experienced people and organisations in the field, and Government you will lead the design, development, launch and delivery of a large programme improving the lives and aspirations of people and communities across England.
You will have a strong understanding of the aspirations of a Community Wealth Fund as set out in the recent Government consultation. As well as the leadership skills to drive progress, ability to articulate the ambitions to various audiences, and analyse learning and evaluation to maximise benefit.

Our ideal candidate will have a background within the charity/not for profit sector and experience in handling an investment portfolio. The role is home based with some travel in/around Hampshire and the IOW. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a new challenge and a step up. Our financial information is highly visible to our donors and grantees, so this role is a crucial enabler for the effective delivery of all areas of our work. The role will be overseen by a part time Finance Manager, who will produce management accounts, annual accounts, budgets, forecasts etc. Part time work will be considered for the right candidate.
The Finance Officer/Bookkeeper will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely finance administration, across two databases (currently Sage and Salesforce). This is a vital role within HIWCF, as high quality finance information is fundamental to our role and reputation in the region as a trusted partner for our fundholders and grantees.
Key Tasks
· Adding all payments transactions (grants, invoices, salaries, expenses, HMRC payments etc) to Sage and the bank accounts, ensuring all evidence is correct and payments are correctly authorised
· Adding all donation income to Sage and Salesforce, and working with other team members to ensure they are acknowledged appropriately
· Adding all quarterly investment income to Sage and Salesforce and reconciling across both databases, and to the investment house reports and bank account
· Regular reconciliations between Sage and Salesforce and bank accounts
· Ensure HMRC payments and gift aid claims are undertaken in a timely manner
· Manage banking records
· Monthly reconciliations for Bank account, purchase ledger, Sage, Salesforce, prepayments, accruals, salaries, PAYE, pension etc
· Monthly journals for non-cost items
· Manage pension with NEST and other ad hoc pension providers and manage insurances
· Ad hoc finance related tasks including reporting on returned grants, managing pension payments, insurances etc
· Any other appropriate tasks as directed
