About Us:

Thank you for your interest in our Country Manager role. ROLDA (Romanian League in Defence of Animals) is a small animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats, and other animals in Romania and internationally. Since its establishment in 2006, ROLDA has become a beacon of hope for the millions of vulnerable stray animals in Romania – one of Europe's economically poorest nations. Our mission is to manage the homeless animal population, estimated to be millions, through six key focuses: rescue, rehabilitation, sheltering, sterilisation, and education. Within our shelters, inspired by British kennel design and maintained to meet EU animal welfare standards, we can house up to 700 stray dogs at a time. Here, they receive complete veterinary care, rehabilitation, and preparation for rehoming. Since 2006, we have helped over 48,000 animals (primarily dogs and cats) and built two shelters for dogs and one for disabled and senior cats. We also distribute support, primarily through small grants, to six other charities in Romania and over 40 shelters in Ukraine. We rehome mainly in Switzerland, Sweden, and the UK. In addition to our efforts in rescuing and rehoming animals, ROLDA tackles the root cause of Romania's homeless animals through comprehensive neutering programmes and educational initiatives. Since 2006, we have successfully neutered nearly 20,000 cats and dogs, significantly impacting Romania's severe overpopulation of animals.

Job Overview:

As the Country Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the growth and impact of ROLDA in the UK. This is a remote position (for now) that requires strategic thinking, people management skills, financial acumen, and a commitment to achieving our organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development:

Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement growth strategies for the organisation.

Drive initiatives such as increasing adoptions, fostering programmes, volunteer engagement, and support fundraising activities.

Support Fundraising Manager with income generation growth

Research and Insight:

Represent the charity externally and liaise with other charities, including other ROLDA branches.

Stay informed about industry trends, research, and insights to inform organisational strategies.

People Management:

Empower and develop the small operational team, including volunteers providing leadership and necessary resources for successful completion of initiatives.

Support the recruitment of volunteers.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment and strong relationships with stakeholders.

Manage and evaluate team performance, providing guidance and feedback as necessary.

Maintain effective communication with the UK and international team of ROLDA and its partners, collaborators.

Financial Management:

Develop and control operational budgets to ensure adequate resources for meeting ROLDA’s objectives.

Problem Solving:

Find innovative solutions to complex problems, adapting strategies to overcome challenges.

Policy and Procedure Development:

Create, develop, and manage operational policies and procedures.

Legal Compliance:

Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed, reported, and compliant with laws.

You'll take ultimate responsibility for our campaign to achieve Proportional Representation in the House of Commons. You will:

Internews seeks an experienced Project Director for a four-year European Commission (EC)-funded project to advance the global response to increasing the resilience of at-risk independent media. The Project Director will lead and manage a consortium of four international NGO and academic implementing partners, overseeing and coordinating the design and implementation of a diverse portfolio of activities in multiple countries worldwide, as well as project monitoring and evaluation and a robust learning agenda. Strong skills in project financial management and communications are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Lead the Inception Phase of the project, working closely with consortium members, the EC, and other awardees to finalize target country selection, select research initiatives, draft the project workplan and monitoring and evaluation plan, and determine country-based activities.

· Serve as Internews’ primary point of contact with the European Commission, establishing and managing strong partnerships and dialogue with EC representatives in Brussels as well as country-level delegations.

· Effectively manage the project consortium, ensuring transparent communication processes and protocols.

· Pro-actively coordinate activity design and management with Internews Regional and Thematic Directors who manage Internews programming in key geographic regions and technical areas.

· Provide strategic, operational and representational assistance to ensure that activities are meeting their goals and targets, recommending program adjustments when necessary to keep the project on track;

· Regularly travel to London and Brussels, as well as target countries, for project and donor management purposes;

· Cultivate and strengthen relationships with local partner organizations and ensure that implementation is responsive to the needs of partners and beneficiaries;

· Track and report project progress and activities monthly against work plans;

· Oversee program monitoring and evaluation to ensure effective implementation and to measure activity impact;

· Working with the Monitoring and Evaluations specialist and team, ensure a robust learning agenda and deliver a learning symposium at project’s end with the consortium and EC.

· Maintain a thorough knowledge of key issues affecting independent media (print, broadcast, digital), and a general understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing independent media globally;

· Ensure the project is in compliance with all grant and cooperative agreement rules, requirements and regulations as well as with Internews internal policies and procedures;

· Serve as the primary budget authority over the project, responsible for ensuring all costs charged to the project are allowable, reasonable and correctly allocated;

· Accept fiduciary responsibility for all funds advanced for the purpose of the project;

· Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to upholding Internews’ Core Values.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and oversee all project staff.Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

· At least 10 years of experience in media and program development, including senior-level management of personnel and financial administration;

· Donor grant management experience with EU funding and wider donor experience is essential;

· Professional experience in the media sector is an asset; experience managing assistance programs supporting media and/or civil society required.

· Experience as a manager or trainer with professional capacity-building programs for journalists and media outlets an asset.

· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in some or all of the following areas:traditional, digital, and social media; media and internet law and policy; information disorders/ disinformation; and/or sustainability models for media;

· Excellent soft skills, including diplomacy, interpersonal and communication skills, with a problem-solving attitude and as a self-starter who works both independently and as a collaborative team player;

· Willingness to travel regularly to London and Brussels, as well as target country visits;

· Additional language skills are a plus;

· University degree or equivalent experience.

As the Interim Head of Health Services, your role will entail collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to guarantee the appropriate delivery of services, adherence / compliance to contracts within England's relevant services, and assistance in the transition of services to new providers. Additionally, you will assume full financial accountability for the services under your purview. During a period of transition and retrenchment as the charity refines its areas of delivery, your role will involve providing leadership, direction, and motivation to various services. To excel in this position, you should have a proven track record in leading, managing, and inspiring both staff and volunteers across diverse service delivery areas. Your experience should encompass effectively managing services, involving service users in their development, and establishing partnerships while negotiating contract terms. You should be skilled of using project management skills to maintain transparency and accountability of work projects. Proficiency in budget management across various portfolios to ensure adherence to financial allocations is essential. Additionally, you should demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and sensitivity to the diverse needs of stakeholders. The Waterways Ombudsman Scheme is in place to ensure the independent handling of complaints made against the Canal & River Trust and other navigation authorities. The Waterways Ombudsman is appointed by the Waterways Ombudsman Committee who oversee the working of the Scheme and the remuneration of the Ombudsman on an independent basis. Waterways Ombudsman

Working part-time and in a location of your choosing, you will take responsibility for all aspects of the ombudsman scheme. This includes handling complaints from initial enquiry through to resolution, as well as managing relationships with, the Committee, and the Canal & River Trust and other navigation authorities, waterway organisations and the media. You will also be responsible for administrative elements of the scheme, such as managing the website and preparing the annual report. The job involves working flexibly around four to five days over a month at a rate of £600 per day, which is paid through the independent Waterways Ombudsman Committee.

We’re looking for someone with a solid understanding of how public or private sector ombudsman schemes work. If you haven’t gained direct experience within one already, then you will certainly have worked at a senior level within a legal environment, dispute resolution system or similar. Sound judgment and integrity are important, as are strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiating skills. You must also be able to work alone and in a highly autonomous way.
