About Blackpool Centre for Early Child Development
Blackpool Centre for Early Child Development (CECD) is the engine room of the Better Start Partnership, the Centre ensures that the vision and ambition of the partnership is translated into action and results. The Centre gives leadership and strategic direction to the partnership and ensures that all partners are actively engaged in the delivery and co-production of services.
The Centre is a multidisciplinary team which includes, Programme and Community Development, Research and Evaluation, Communications, Business Support and Data Management. The centre is building local capacity and expertise by ensuring the latest knowledge and processes are adopted in Blackpool and the learning of what works then cascaded nationally and internationally.
The research team currently works on approximately 29 different projects each with differing qualitative and quantitative elements designed to be commensurate with the size, required robustness and timescales agreed with project leads. Common work plans include conducting literature reviews to support programme design, reviewing implementation processes, conducting pilots, feasibility and acceptability evaluations, exploring their potential impact, and writing reports for a variety of audiences to disseminate learning. Interventions include those focused on diet and nutrition, speech, language and communication, social and emotional development, community-based, workforce development and systems change.
The Research and Evaluation Officer will ensure that their projects have evaluations integrated into their design, and that monitoring is effective and meaningful through implementation and delivery over time. They will also provide support to the rest of the team and be skilled in all aspects of research and evaluation and their methodologies.
There will be consideration for part-time roles alongside full-time opportunities.
