This is a time of change for Stoke Service Centre as we are leading the way with the NSPCC’s ‘Together for Childhood’ initiative – a new and innovative approach to create safer communities for children in partnership with other agencies.

We are recruiting to the post of Strategic Service Manager to help us take forward this exciting initiative.  This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact for children and families in Stoke.

At the NSPCC we believe that the best way to keep children safe is to stop abuse before it starts.

Our new pioneering place based initiative, Together for Childhood, is a collaborative, ambitious and challenging opportunity to create safer communities for children – and Stoke is one of four UK sites taking this innovative approach forward, with Chell Heath and Fegg Hayes communities having been selected in 2018 as the locality for targeted activity.

Together for Childhood in Stoke aims to help prevent child sexual abuse.   The Together for Childhood partnership in the city includes the NSPCC and Stoke City Council, working closely with local education services, NHS health organisations, the police, voluntary and community sector, parents and community organisations, to prevent child abuse and neglect.  Using a public health approach to the prevention of child abuse and neglect, we also want to forge closer, direct, inclusive relationships with communities, families and children and young people.

Together for Childhood in Stoke will also provide a range of direct services to children, families and the local communities in Chell Heath and Fegg Hayes to help prevent child sexual abuse.

Working for the NSPCC, you will share our values and behaviours.  Our excellent professional development and training programmes are available to support you every step of the way – developing your knowledge and skills and giving you opportunities to achieve your potential.

You will receive a competitive salary and a generous annual leave entitlement.

We have a unique opportunity for an exceptional senior social care and strategic manager to be at the forefront of the development and delivery of Together for Childhood and make a real impact in working for the NSPCC in Stoke.

As Strategic Service Manager you will have a key role in further developing the Together for Childhood partnership in the city, working closely with partner agencies and the community.

You will also lead the NSPCC’s direct work in the Stoke Service Centre, providing line management for a Team Manager and Development Manager, who manage a well-established and experienced team of children’s services practitioners providing a range of services to children and families focusing on the prevention of child sexual abuse. You will use your substantial experience of managing child protection work to ensure high standards of practice are maintained in all aspects of service delivery

Closing date: 31st October 2019                       Interviews: 27th November 2019

Candidates who are successful at technical interview will go to the final stage of the interviewing process, an interview with a panel of young people taking place on Saturday 30th November 2019 in Stoke-on-Trent.
