Grants Operations Manager - Nuffield Foundation

  • Salary: circa £40,000 per annum (negotiable depending upon experience).
  • Contract: Full time (35 hours per week), permanent
  • Location: London, ability to work from home for part of the week

The Nuffield Foundation is hiring a Grants Operations Manager to manage and oversee all aspects of our grant operations and administration, ensuring we continue to effectively fund research that fulfils our mission of advancing educational opportunity and social wellbeing. 


The role

Grant-making is central to our mission, and the Grants Operations Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of grant operations within the Foundation.  

Leading the Grants Operations Team, you will own our grants management and applications processes, ensuring these are effectively managed, and that there is good communication and coordination on all grants issues across the business. This will involve working closely with colleagues across the Foundation, particularly Programme Heads, and Finance and Information Systems. 

This position will also oversee the ongoing development and implementation of our new grants management system (on Salesforce), identifying and implementing areas for improvement and reviewing processes to support the needs of grant making teams and external stakeholders. 

You will also develop and oversee the analysis and reporting of management information, to both assess the effectiveness of our grant operations and support the evaluation of the projects we fund.   

About you

With your people management, operational, and grants management experience, you will be responsible for developing and leading a small team, prioritising work where necessary to ensure operational support across the whole portfolio of grants and programmes. You will need to provide hands-on support for the team during peak periods. You will also be responsible for ensuring the effective embedding and ongoing development of a new grants management system. You will be highly numerate and with excellent IT skills. With strong abilities in collaborating and communicating, you will be able to work effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation as well as external stakeholders (including senior academics).
