Oak Foundation – Director, Housing and Homelessness Programme

About Oak Foundation:

Oak Foundation commits its resources to address issues of global, social and environmental concern, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged. With offices in Europe, Africa and North America, Oak Foundation makes grants to organisations located in approximately 40 countries worldwide.

About the Housing and Homelessness Programme

In Oak Foundation’s Housing and Homelessness Programme, we focus on preventing homelessness by funding sustainable solutions that improve the economic and social wellbeing of marginalised youth, adults and families. We have three priorities: promoting economic well-being; increasing the availability and supply of affordable housing; and preventing homelessness. Grants within the programme are wide-ranging in size. We partner with organisations working both nationally and locally in Boston, New York and Philadelphia in the United States and in London, Belfast, South Wales, Glasgow, Bristol and Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Within each location, we aim to fund projects relevant to the three priorities. In addition, we have adopted specific objectives that recognise particular issues in some of the localities where we make grants.

Purpose of the role

We are now seeking a director to lead our Housing and Homelessness Programme and team.

Main responsibilities include:

  • leading strategic planning, implementation and review;
  • managing the housing and homelessness team and grant portfolio; and
  • leading field building activities, including network development, funder relationships, convenings and collaborative projects, and representing Oak Foundation externally.

Position requirements

  • strong demonstrated understanding of issues related to housing and homelessness, and ideally relevant networks;
  • proven team management and strategic leadership experience at a senior level; and
  • ability and willingness to listen and learn, humility and a sense of humour.

Location: Oak Foundation’s UK office
