Ocean Advocacy Manager

The Ocean Conservation Trust is a global Ocean conservation charity that exists to restore and protect the Ocean. Our work is centred around people and positive action through pro-Ocean behaviour and habitat restoration. We're committed to conserving the marine environment and inspiring others to do the same.

Our Ocean Advocacy Manager is a new role for the organisation created to enhance OCT’s credentials as a leader in Ocean related behaviour change and conservation, maximising engagement opportunities through creative programmes and the development of policy and international relationships. 

The Ocean Advocacy Manager will play a key role in supporting the OCT’s advocacy activities, as well as delivering key strategic objectives in the 5 year strategy. In the wider community, the post holder will need to be approachable and engaging, and happy to work on the ground, networking. It will also be essential to build solid working relationships with the team at the Ocean Conservation Trust to ensure the best success for our advocacy work.   

You will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic to generate long-term working relationships with all stakeholders. You will need to be a self-starter, as much of the time you will be working autonomously and managing your own time. You will be provided with the necessary resources and support from the team based in Plymouth.

The Ocean Advocacy Manager will report directly to the Head of Ocean Advocacy and Engagement and will be a member of the extended management team.

This is a permanent position of 22.5 hours per week. The salary will range from £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience (the salary is paid pro rata and based on FTE of 37.5 hours per week). Hybrid and remote working will be considered, but regular travel to Plymouth will be expected for team meetings and other face to face activity. A flexible working pattern will also be considered.
