As an HMI, you'll be taking your social care career to the next level. You'll be part of a forward-facing, energetic organisation, improving the lives of children and young people across the country.
It’s your opportunity to broaden and deepen your knowledge as you inspect in a wide range of settings across England. You'll be working with many other talented professionals from other key services, exercising your professional curiosity. HMI Social Care work primarily in local authority services but may also inspect the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), secure training centres alongside Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons and the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and Youth Offending Services with Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation. We also undertake joint targeted inspections with CQC, HMIC (Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary) and HMI Probation.
You will already have extensive leadership experience and significant achievement in children’s social care. At Ofsted, there will be many opportunities to continue your professional development and enhance your career. You will join an experienced team and engage in high-level professional discussion that can influence national policy. Becoming an HMI could provide an excellent stepping stone to becoming a senior leader back in the sector later in your career. As an HMI, you'll add another string to your bow by developing inspection skills and gaining knowledge of a large number of services, while bringing your outstanding talent, expertise and recent practice to the inspection workforce.
Salary £75,500 (post probation) + home-based working and vehicle user allowance + performance-related rewards and other benefits
